║today my way║

resolutions, new year, thoughts on things, todaymyway.com

Now that I have realized the discomfort from sitting on the fence, the turnaround in attitude is pretty obvious. Will it be a long read? Coffee-break subject at least? I'll be serious in short paragraphs and say silly things in others. I also realized it's December which makes my ramblings a bit more appropriate, like ending a chapter with a few wise thoughts not making much sense at times.

Am I moving forward? Am I hardly moving? I try to avoid posting articles revealing uncomfortable truths yet they are available exclusively between lines and behind highly pigmented lipstick. Just help yourselves whenever you please. Where do I start? I'm a person who avoids being busy, I get anxious when there is too many things going on yet I always plan to have hands full. I know, silly as my moves on the dancefloor. I've been spending days convinced the world is waiting with open arms for when I'm ready to go for it. I love challenges, new beginnings, first page of a freshly printed book but I have never allowed myself to see what’s on the next page and the one after it. I never happened to find out if there was a happy ending. I've been finding it easy to start off nicely but somehow in the process (and fairly quickly in that matter), I'm off the course. Off for a long time or for good. It's a super simple way to never achieve anything if you wanna take tips ;) Dreaming big while briefly focusing on living and enjoying life is what I do best. Worked it to perfection. It cannot end well, waiting for my ship to come instead of swimming out to it.

I took a very safe path but I won't announce to make every effort to keep my 2015 calendar busy, to be unstoppable to conquer every spare moment. It's not about days filled to the brim, it's about time filled with purpose. My hope is to try again, with excitement and a dose of anticipation in every most convenient time of my life. Celebrating a birthday in a season stuffed with so much meaning helps with organizing my head, prioritizing tasks, articulating resolutions. Hardly glamorous job when getting glammed up for the big night out but essential one for sure. I wanna make room for things I cannot quite verbally describe but which fall into other categories than weekly shopping or finding the best lipstick to suit my skin tone. No commitments, just prioritizing and hoping for the best. I'm very much looking forward to you new year, I really do. x

SERIOUS ARTIST EXPLODES
SERIOUS ARTIST EXPLODES

Looking at the amount of drawings and paintings collected over time it feels like we spend time doing nothing else than draw and paint around here which is mostly true. And such pleasurable activity if things don't get glued to surfaces that shouldn't get decorated homemade-style. It lifts my spirits knowing a plain sheet of paper gives Nadia more options that Lego bricks or Barbie's closet can (and those as you know don't fail to entertain). Most recent artwork gets hung impressively on the fridge or the side of the wardrobe in her bedroom and each and every sheet has been a loved addition to the growing pile. We kept it in a colourful folder so when the time came to make the treasured possessions more accessible, Nadia couldn't contain her excitement seeing her work once again. She could easily recall the creatures captured in ink and I loved catching up with the princesses phrase and just recently - dogs wearing crowns phrase. We made a decision to put it all in a book - choose the contents lovingly, bind it professionally and cherish eternally. It was more than fun and as long as Nadia's creativity thrives, I'm all in.

There are lots of different ways to create lasting impression as a customer. The trick here is to be friends with the shop owner or vary unusual requests.

And that's material for another book, we know we'll be there soon ;)

IT'S GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR
IT'S GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR
IT'S GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR
IT'S GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR

This blank notebook of a new year excites me like it hasn't happened before. It does every year, leave me and untouched day to a page diary alone and I'll have it all planed, pre-booked, organized to specific date and time. It just feels natural to be ecstatic and overwhelmed about something you know it's coming and you can make the most or the little of it. Anything. But nobody needs to know that. Only those who are involved I reckon. So, yeah welcome to day to a page of goals and playfulness. Some serious nerve-tingling events will mingle with everyday activities transforming them into something magical or just a little different which is especially good news as we've missed a few dates and ocassions this year. Nadia will take part in 'Alice in Wonderland' ballet performance on two days next July because movement of any kind is going strong around here since forever. This will be cute to watch and I'm inviting everyone like crazy. Grab yourself a glass of milk and consider being greatly entertained for about two hours straight.

The next paragraph will be a very domestic one about a house with white fences and children running among the heavily breeding trees. Sun will shine through the open patio doors while I sit watching frilly skirts floating before my eyes. Or so I want to. I’ve been bragging around about a massive urge to move out to a house of ours (semi-detached, terraced, doesn’t matter) for a long time. Maybe it’s far more urgent because I've never experienced a proper home or my own space as my family was moving from place to place, I kept changing schools like Kim Kardashian changes her outfits. On good days my space would consist of a half of a family table with the other half for my younger brother. I gave a lot of thought to renting properties because they’re not bad option to consider. If we’re lucky we could find a decent size house with rear garden and being close to main streets and the beach. If it’s unfurnished, the better. And if the landlord is not too much of a jerk, we can decorate rooms as we please. Even yesterday owning a house was a big deal for us (me), today I’m much laid-back about the whole buying idea especially that we’re not huge money savers. I’d rather spend that extra cash on trips, food or little clothes so yeah, mentally preparing myself for journeys through estate agencies to get that new space under our wings.

I think it’s going to be an exciting year. (Shhh... happy almost Christmas, friends...)

TIME TO PUT A HEART AND SOUL INTO IT

Honey oak chest of drawers holds embarrassing amount of framed photographs of her posing in the dust of Sahara, riding a horse, next to the plane propeller, wearing trousers and smiling with confidence. A continuation of a promise made years ago now carefully dusted, lovingly arranged and carried everywhere she went. Studying their negatives today wouldn’t have brought much amusement if it didn’t occur to me that she was just one of those people who figured life’s a gift and didn’t intend on wasting it but making each day count. Draw limitations and you’ll bound your life to them; have an open mind, be brave and you’ll always find a way to achieve. “Promise me you’ll survive. That you won’t give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise.” “I promise.” “Never let go.” “I’ll never let go, Jack. I’ll never let go.”

You know what movie this quote is taken from, don't you? Thoughts on things that escaped my attention this year are starting to line up... Me in 10, 20 years time... How will I look like, what my life will be like? Will it be worth the wait, excitement? 2014 is upon us and my resolution list has never been so overstuffed and well... untouched. I envy people whose parents were consistent, motivated and encouraging. Mine were none of these things and raised me to become none of these things either (although I owe them a world). You are what you were taught to be, think a certain way is a myth I no longer believe. Neither I believe in destiny, fate, God. On the contrary, I’ve gained a strong belief in me creating one and only life. If there were things I needed to accomplish and I’ve done nothing to it, the only one to blame was me. Not bad luck or my parents. Creation is natural, stagnation is not.

A few years ago I have come up with an idea for a novel and until I don’t get the story out of my head, I’m not a real writer, am I? I'm into writing because this is what I do best and enjoy my company above all else while in the shelter of hours elapsing in silence, I hide behind words like actors dissemble behind their characters and singers use music to camouflage the truth. For many writing is a therapy - well known personalities are bestowed upon their fictional characters. Sometimes to be read equals to be heard, you’re not anonymous anymore. Unless you are a very stable writing being, you’re only comfortable describing the surroundings you know, you’ve experienced or in this or other way they have bothered you for long enough to end up in ink. I wasn’t immediately sure if the novel I’m scribbling in between folding laundry and stretching tendons in poses I rarely allow in bedroom (I mean doing yoga) was a way of escaping my troubles. The story is way too complicated... yet mirrors most of the exclamation marks in my head. We should be doing what we love unless of course silly daily missions keep us anchored unecstatically to the desk, sink, anywhere momentarily not amusing. I'm really keen on allocating those long evenings for first chapters. Thank you for coming, inspiration. x
