THIRTY SOMETHING'S THOUGHTS ON PARTYING

Going out is fun and addictive, I don't think you ever really stop. So here's my situation. Before going out the last thing your best-going-out pants have on their stretchy mind is to eat. Even if you are going to have a small portion. Eaten in a jiffy. Because chips from down the road will speed up the getting ready process but really how many is enough? On a big night... I’d say it’s different for each design. You’ll always eat with confidence, denim or not, textural or safe, most especially if you’re not into collecting phone numbers. Everything will be forgiven after midnight.

Dress on a night out always spoke to me loud. They feel feminine, catch all the dizzy eyes, sometimes they’re just all that you need on. Trousers on the other hand... Could they happen and work? Even if my inner sex bomb protested, the outside conditions were saying otherwise. It’s freezing and I’m working the next day so no, I don’t really fancy coming down with something already fought two weeks ago. So denim jeans and long-sleeved chiffon top were put together. And it felt right. My new very favourite outfit was painlessly conceived. But that’s not the end of your favourite story. I don’t really specialize in moves on the dancefloor without frilly fabric dancing with me. What one does with hands, how one handles that nothing blows up? The thought was terribly unsatisfying. Until I realized you basically do it the same. If you want to. Move is a move, hip shake still a cute option to get everyone talking, no point feeling less special living the dream in pants. I’ll keep it in mind next time I make such dramatic choice.

When you hear ‘Black and white’ by Michael Jackson in the club you thank your mum and dad for getting together just so you always recognize this song. Way cooler when you’re mostly surrounded by folk half your age available for a spin. What more could you need? And it’s not even three in the morning. Also a bit of Elvis will never let you down.

Is it just me or it is a classic move to try fellow dancer’s hat on for extra bit of a situation? I’ll let you not to answer. Cause it might be just me. Or the Elvis. Or both.

So you go partying. And forget the door key. And this time you’re not going wild as you would after grocery shopping. Nostalgic, that’s how it feels. Cause this is the feeling we all know and recognize. Pause for a minute and start texting and calling. Banging helps too. x

CROSSING OVER TO THE DARK SIDE

CROSSING OVER TO THE DARK SIDE

Just making it short and exciting for the weekend with two photos from my recent fabulous birthday night out with great bunch of people celebrating appearance of new crow's feet on my face. You can't fully see my dark brown hair (although the poor lighting adds intrigue to the colour) which I need to get used to but I didn't want to go down the lighter route. So now I am like a sponge taking as many compliments as just the opposite but I'm fine with that. I like variety. When going out, some nights I favour glam feminine look, other nights (let's start counting and it still will be a one digit number) a rock'n'roll kind of vibe. Dress is always my pick but the thought of sharpening the look a bit can't fade away recently. As for the underwear I needed something to lift and sculpt a bit as a middle aged woman should do and it did the job fantastically! I can't praise it enough, it's instant mood (and other bits) lifter if you will. Take my word of wisdom and unearth possibilities that you didn't ever think possible in a tiny piece of fabric. When the night turned to dawn we melded seamlessly with the world asleep for a good few hours. A little older, a little wiser... Back to normal. x

Print dress: MNG by Mango (so so old), Suede jacket: Bershka, wedge sandals: Bershka
I'll let you steal a peek of what I wore to my first night out in light years. I'd been cooped up at home so long that going out meant playground or grocery shopping. Then the opportunity came and my sister-in-law refused to push it back another month so we went. All the same I could not contain my excitement as I put second and third layer of eyeshadow across my lids. I got pretty excited pretty fast. I didn't drink but danced insanely in front of a big baby with an enormous pacifier dangling on his neck, two half-naked cowboys and a multitude of hen/stag night attendants. I ignored most of the glances and returned maybe two dancing in this blissful state of not needing to attract anybody with my embarrassing dance moves. And head shakes.

I could get used to it - I thought chasing the straw in the glass with my mouth - get pampered, indulge my desire to show off new dress each week until my tired self thanked me the next morning for not being twenty anymore and having other stuff on my greying head instead of overachieving the impossible. I was thrilled like crazy at how up late I stayed that night and how much I can have done while I'm sleep-deprived the next day. Nadia trained me well.

From other news I'm happy to announce I'll be guest posting on second Saturday each month about raising a girl and staying in shape (like what?) over at Vegan Housewives website. My first appearance is scheduled on October the 12th so do not hesitate to head over to say hi. I'll be happy to serve you a warm tea on arrival and hand cookies to your kids.

I wanted to take my husband out for sooo long that finally - just the two of us sneaked out this Friday evening and had a fabulous time at the cinema and hankering for something to eat afterwards, we found a little sushi bar called Sushi & Roll accidentally while walking to the car. I had a bit of Japanese in London earlier this year and was yearning for some more since then. I have no idea if the cute little bar just opened up or has been at the end of our nose for ages (I hope not!) but I am smitten with the kind service, beauty of food made in front of us at very affordable prices. Now I know what my diet will be like...

The night was perfect - holding hands like teenagers, taking pictures outside the cinema and inside the cute sushi bar and freaking out at every bleep coming from my phone to find out there was nothing to worry about - our daughter was in safe hands. Big thanks to my friend for looking after her while we were pretending to be dating again!
