THE BEST DAYS START WITH WEIRD IDEAS

Unexpected as it was and equally cold, our feet led us to a place non existent on the surface (while in Poland, of course). To get to the died down heart of a black coal mine Guido we had to wear protective helmets (in every colour of the rainbow) and without a scent of fear be able to take a journey almost to the center of the earth (which with a child under 7 takes us 170 meters into the blackest space). Our guide showed us the furthest tunnels and told about horses helping with coal transport. I'd have never thought about visiting such weird place but thanks to my uncle (the same who stayed with us in September) we had a bit of a history lesson. Mines are usual view in southern parts of Poland, my father worked in one before I was born and I could easily recall a few names taking a lift down the mine for at least forty years in their lifetime but never visited one. Now I appreciate more their hard work. Nadia enjoyed running through the tunnels and laughed hard seeing her bear wearing protective helmet in matching colour. After the scary escapade we went back to my uncle's pad and enjoyed roasted tenderloin with dumplings for lunch.

I was really into wearing hat and almost snake-snarled scarf all the time while out in the freezing cold and gloves never left my hands for insanely long but I couldn't help but caught a cold while back in England anyway. Under the watchful Damian's eye I'm slowly getting back to my healthy blogging self.

    1. I'm not claustrophobic but the sense of walking 170 meters underground felt equally scary and extraordinary.
