PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND
PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND

Do you get excited, motivated, moved and whatever else after seeing something that you may consider turning in something else and have fun along the way? Not to mention that you want to start doing it right away? The message is clear – you’ll get out of it more by picturing yourself doing it than actually... getting on with it. But to the point. Granny friendly shelves of crochet yarn in ecstatic colours and I’m done shopping elsewhere. I'll just look seriously concerned if it could end up pleasantly in a scarf form or unidentified shape of something I’ve seen and hardly recreated. Or fabrics, pots of paint get me equally excited about my non-existent sewing and colour mixing abilities. One can always wander down the aisles.

To avoid more drama on a misbehaving coast I grabbed my favourite monthly publication that was enveloped in film. It contained a free copy of a music CD but the idea of originally wrapped magazine on a potentially suicidal day is more than rad. Was I lucky or seriously lucky that day?

We all know that long woolen winter socks look good on top but for once I could just make them work underneath my jeans. It's still cold commuting! The decision was easy and my jeans knew how to act in certain situations. Only that I might never do that again. I’ve never thought I’d perfect scratching, tugging and tearing in order to pull what’s dropped. Perplexed is understatement. Errands will never get done when there’s this thing on my mind or below my knees now that you mention it.

Sunglasses needed! If you spend a pound on outlandish pair to be worn just a couple of times all the balance is restored. Surprisingly they don’t get damaged as they used to between a year old fingers so inexpensive means days of completely guilt-free fun.

I’ve got this fairy light string wrapped around legs of my home office desk. They are cherry blossom lights that glow in red and make me happy just to look at them mindlessly daydreaming. And I’ve been noticing all these adorable round bulb droppings on the carpet like ripe plums ready to be turned into a fresh jam for the family. I’ve picked up six and counting. Attaching them back doesn’t work as they’re already broken, except actually without looking festive they end up in several places intentionally or not. Recently as toy mushrooms attached to a cardboard sheet with white dots painted by ourselves truly.

Have a great weekend! x

WELL-BEGUN IS HALF DONE AKA THE IMPORTANCE OF SESON'S EARLY SHOPPING

Water resistant saddle protector if you have spare minutes between rides
Lid Sid prevents pans boiling over to everyone's embarrassment (if you put him other way round)
Pussy magnet attracts paperclips and other metal bits to begin with
Yes Deer, No Deer mug experience while people are watching
Herb/Security Scissors vaguely related to the rest of the household
Six cotton rich socks saving you time trying to find pairs (15 possible combinations!)

The message is clear and uncomplicated - to organize way in advance and forget last minute shop-to-almost-passed-out status. Easy typed than done but even if I knew I wasn't going to accomplish anything just yet, simple browsing through gift sites and flipping through magazines was a good start. Every minute of it. If I can look for ideas before taking my purse out, most likely I'll have my gifts shipped, wrapped, even dusted in time! Most likely. The formula works wonders unless in a strange way I'll start to rely heavily on planning forgetting how fun it is to buy things out of a pure excitement while being pushed over at the till. One and only experience of a last minute shopper.

Anyway my all time best site for things that are crazy, quirky and not at all necessary is the one I introduced here. Presents for Men (as well as for the girls) with their multitude of choices and one year later I still find interesting things to have my eyes peeled on. Tell me you're in Christmas shopping mood already so we're in it together. x

little things that attract
drawing with children

I like to do a little bit of everything - amazingly at the same time so never an ordinary activity remains as such for long periods. It obviously creates some unintentional whirlwinds that probably will continue to occur so I apologize for not posting and keeping quiet but I promise we didn't laze about (only when needed). On this day it looks like it was hot and summery but it wasn't. It was windy, a little chilly and fire training at work called for total comfort (flat shoes, tee and a pair of jeans).

Damian took the afternoon off so we had no obligations to anything than venture our shopping mall. We didn't just browse but bought a couple of items (my first pair of ripped below and above the knee jeans which I could put my hands on a little but I guess that's enough of bare skin in this moody weather and also the first pair that fits perfectly. I love H&M jeans, there are a couple of pairs somewhere out there in the mail to me and can't wait to actually CUT THEM! I find only a few pairs {and not those I'm desperate to wear!} that are right for my petite size, all the summer/white/patterned rest is passionately adjusted to my short needs), indulged in delicious comfort foods like pitta bread with sun-dried tomato and basil marinade, grilled chicken and chunky chips, something we almost never change (oops!). We also shared a raspberry cheesecake. It was already a high calorie day, so I just went all out!

In other news I haven't been able to enjoy some of the week because of a nasty ear infection that hurts like no other. I'm the last person to turn to antibiotics or painkillers so I guess I made it worse just by procrastinating taking them, trying to see how long I can survive. The pain was unbearable for the first two days waking me up at five in the morning and I can only wish the antibiotic to clear this up soon.

Also do you remember when I spoke of being on a friendship edge? Almost slipping away. Well, the helping hand has reemerged, building blocks of communication and trust are slowly piling up (we're past the foundations so it can only get better) through little chats here and there. For many good reasons my cousin and I have found ourselves open for knowledge and understanding and will let things happen naturally on a short trip to Cracow (Kraków in Polish) later in July (it is my beloved Polish town I secretly dream of buying a whole tenement house there, merge two floors to live on and rent the rest. I'm pretty certain about it). Tickets booked, sweet hotel right in the middle of a Jewish quarter designed in a vintage, very sentimental and romantic style chosen, theater and event guides bookmarked. I can't wait to slip into whatever is next in this friendship for us but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a bad dream about us going separate ways once everything is said and misunderstood. I'm not going there to tell her I will change, I'm hopeful for a new path we will both happily step on as grown up women with different points of view and experiences.

Have a great weekend! x

INSERT SMILEY FACE - WE'RE ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
INSERT SMILEY FACE - WE'RE ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
INSERT SMILEY FACE - WE'RE ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
We seem to love short getaways, a day is enough to stroll down the street, grab an ice cream, look around the corner and jump in a car for a ride back home. One day of spontaneousness speaks to us louder than a day of preparation and usually it's never defined on our personalized calendar. Not every choice of trip decided on the spur of the moment is completely washed out of some errands that have to be ran but we always focus on the fun factor throughout. It's the deal. Sealed with a huge dose of positive expectations and right coordination. With Damian in tow we're more on a neatier, organized side.

Before there was still hope to get Nadia's passport ready before family holiday (those cases take light years to complete especially when you're torn between two countries and no one really knows which one is closer to your heart, let alone residency status in this case) - traipsing at a snail speed on London's busy sidewalks cheered every cell of that tiny body emerging from underneath stores' canopies into the sunshine. Brisk walking, avoiding short showers with a friendly grin was marking our afternoon. As typing this I came to realize how annoying my requests to stop here or capture this might have been. Getting impressed by a window decoration, unusual change of scenery as I rebel around? Everything seems so real to me these days, so within reach if you're willing to touch. The hues, textures are so permittive and I'm grateful for the luxury of noticing and embracing them.

As we drove home I hugged that sleepy head of mine in the car seat next to me (I haven't sat in the front passenger seat since the day she was born and I'm happy never to do that again) knowing how lucky mama I am - her presence is magical, her monologues are wonderfully vibrant so much so that I needn't do anything but melt.

^^ Fast-paced but productive shopping. Unlike me, she knows exactly what she'd like. I predict a wonderful shopping buddy in near future. ^^

I have this thing for scarves - as plain or patterned as they can be never ruined my outfit and served faithfully through changing seasons. And never lamented the loss of my interest in favor of newly admired pieces. Another season, another batch of crinkled items on my wish list (secretly loving the green and white stripy one). Next to the representation of all that I adore a hidden fascination of two-toned animal comes out of hiding - is zebra 'in' this season? Nonetheless I'd love to own at least one of the items representing the fauna and if zebra ballet pumps take over I'm all smiles. Last but not least I'm finally heading towards exchanging a multipurpose mummy handbag for a compact, eye catching one since baby bottles, wipes and squeaky toys are no longer the ultimate essential. You know where my eye is traveling... The transition will be spectacular so the only colour I could think of is sunshine yellow. I have got it all figured out.

Help yourselves:
Sheer scarf with a green stripe print pattern: H&M - already daydreamingly paired with my grey jacket
Braided belt in imitation leather: H&M - reducing colour, shouting with texture
Zebra print leather tote: Next - throw everything in and be ready to go!
Zebra ballet pumps: H&M - for considerable growth of temperature
Red scarf in a leopard print: H&M - irreplaceable for impulse shopping
Black and white ballet pumps: H&M - comfortable shoes can be turned chic with the right pieces
Zebra print scarf: Next - stripes too many to count but enough to challenge some outfits
Yellow leather pouch bag: Boden - mustard yellow is moved to the front of the closet
Crinkled scarf with a lace trim: H&M - starting new season from the neck down

Flower hair slide: Claire's, Roll-neck T-shirt: Vertbaudet, Light checks blouse: Vertbaudet, Jeans shorts: Next

After some of my wildest shopping trips I can totally struggle with squeezing all new clothes into a tiny dresser space Nadia has in our joint wardrobe. Before they even make it to the shelves, they're laid in front of me or hung in the air as I stretch my hand out while inspecting their softness, playfulness or just colour no longer reserved for others. It's kind of a welcoming ritual I celebrate until the first stain or hole. Buying for Nadia is so addictive, combining the old with the new is shouting to me even louder through accessories and textures so I hope you'll like a new feature on the blog - dressing up myself isn't nearly as fun as my little girl, I'll show you how it's done through weekly Pre-School Boutique petite fashion moments (the choice is never easily approved but we're trying ;)

Two tips for little fashionistas: want to wear shorts all winter? Layer up a pair of tights and leggins to keep warm from the waist down. Feeling spring in the air but the blouse is still risky on its own? Hide roll-neck underneath for extra comfort. Thanks for visiting the boutique.
