EVERYTHING WE LOOK FOR IN A PERFECT DAY, english weather, awesome day, todaymyway.com

She loves to keep things interesting. She does love to surprise me every time I look at her longer than just to smile and wink and it excites and frightens me alike. It’s kind of wonderful she’s entirely different person the minute my eye moves along traits that are no longer in play, yes I’m insanely into everything transforming so seriously. It struck me enormously how it was possible to grow so quickly under my watchful eye! That flexibility of nature, the perfect finishing touches to be found settling in under the waterproof parka, fleece linings, scarves of many colours, crowns and princess gowns. Even hair is growing in a way that keeps things in an inevitable perspective, still out of proportion to her changing body, getting past her ribs and beyond. I feel a lot of pressure to get to know her more, love her deeper, give more attention, get creative with every day we make memories. Because it’s transitory. I’m among those mums that await more, seek clues, spot a difference from a mile away, be that from a photo or a new grimace, particular move, new shade of golden in her hair. Each month my eyes are trained to the full and I feel grateful for this child becoming a big girl but yes, I will never recover from losing the squishy body and toothless gums.

You can rely on me Mother Nature, I’m witnessing a beautiful process of someone growing up - outgrowing fabrics, skilfully creating multiple verb sentences, forming friendships and still holding my hand on walks all over town. She prefers to do it more than when she was younger, more adventurous I suppose? Always a block ahead of me, turning back and laughing she made it quicker than I. I guess five year olds don’t run away, they just hold you tight and steer your steps – shall we go this way? take that front seat on the bus? sit right here so we can see everything? I notice however her paths shifting gradually, letting go of my hand and just be, pushing boundaries and wandering off. Mostly at bus stops when the waiting times vary rudely from what the timetable promises. We still go out a few times a month, hand in hand, one rain boot in the puddle but those days of careless escapades are so behind us. A school girl is a new role, new exciting adventure, a thing that takes up all the time and energy. I vaguely recall an outing in the past weeks, it was dreary, we had colds, chicken pox symptoms, we skipped most of the fun stuff. And then the weather surprised with a warm kiss on exposed foreheads and there was no stopping us from adventure we were so accustomed to. Sometimes going weeks without exploring the area brings more energy to be out and about than any other idea. We were realistic, only having enough time to play before the sun setting rapidly thanks to Daylight Saving Time. It was warm but we wore hats, ate chips while waving legs on a wooden bench. It felt like a tailor-made for us afternoon we'll try to relive anytime.

at the seaside, summer, town entertainment, today my way blog

Not so long ago there was lots of entertainment on the streets of our town, there was sun and tourists rubbed elbows with the local crowd. There was a story to every day through activities or celebration of slow-paced process and I couldn’t help but reminisce those days. I’m especially drawn to the colour of the sky and our rosy complexion positively glowing. Whilst most of the pictures are bright and happy, they introduce a cosy, intimate feel. Today like no other day we need some encouragement as the sky refuses to brighten up since the early morning.

As always we were blown away by the Air Show that entertains us annually and takes the summer away with it. But while it was still matching our mood - it was all about the atmosphere, getting together with others and a sense of belonging to this town. Pilots were masters at playing with gravity through variation of cloud-capped acts whilst making incredible noise. They seemed to do it so effortlessly it looked right playful, theatrical even! There was plenty of open space for Nadia to roam, plenty to indulge ourselves into that one late afternoon.

fascinating neighbourhood, travel, todaymyway.com

Leave a girl in a room full of clothes she's allowed to try on and you know she's been ready for it since the early rising that day. And the huge bonus? Clothes that actually fit after generations, historic tribulations and too much pungent lye soap. Or they might be just replicas therefore you're totally entitled to ignore the introduction. It felt so festive trying on those bonnets and high-waisted Regency frocks and somehow they were only fabrics but easily managed to entwine us tight with the spirit ruled by elegance and etiquette. Let me throw an annual Jane Austen Festival into the mix and I never loved a place before. It turns out Bath could be our next best old streets. Until then, I'm back to the seaside.

We went to Bath, a beautiful town in neighbouring district and it was an intense day of walking, visiting museums, trying to check in on time while moving in ultra slow motion, eating sushi and chasing balloons. Me and my friend have been talking about exploring a new town at every occasion, coffee involved or not and we just could not wait any longer. And success. And it happened.

After a quick snack-lunch from Yen Sushi eaten on a wooden bench observing Nadia pretend-playing and making notes in her pink notebook while running the way heroes do we headed to Fashion Museum followed by Jane Austen Centre we entered at the last minute. While wandering down the streets we were spotting remains of ancient times literally everywhere. I knew they'd absolutely be well loved if we moved down here. But two and a half hour drive away from our dearest and well recognized? Hard thought to bear. It is a beautiful little place for sure, with talented singers popping up at bigger squares singing the way I'd never hear someone entertain others going by their own ways, getting on with their daily chores and stuff. The sound flew beyond the walls of stone, we were mesmerized.

There was also Bath Abbey and The Roman Baths on our guide printed earlier for our wild exploring ideas. I love old places that seen and experienced more just by standing still. It was pleasant and airy, and dark and scary at times so the bundle of energy of mine broke in tears on one occasion wanting to be back to daddy. So we sat on our own, talked a little, hugged a lot, decided on a chocolate ice cream and went off to look for my friend exploring the intensive way of reading and touching the place almost piece by piece. We're not so sure we could do that.

And since it was still so nice while getting dark, we decided to wander over to the bridge that was already closed for the roving public. It didn't stop us to take some pictures and promise to make it within social hours next time. Have a great day, friends! x

swanage, taking full advantage, windy season, chococo

This video was made for a number of reasons and visiting the chocolate shop was or wasn't the most important of them (I still haven't decided). This is where all my sweet dreams come true. There is plenty of magic about this town, the lack of good weather didn't need to constrain our creativity so here it is, a lot of fun in less then three minutes. Enjoy each French verse too. xx

PLACE THAT MAKES ME WANT TO EXPLORE IT UNTIL MY BODY IS WAY BEHIND ME
A PLACE THAT MAKES ME WANT TO EXPLORE IT
Abandoned carrousel on an empty pier... it doesn't happen often these days. But it made it so much easier for us to peek through each corner and snap more photos than we usually on a quest for. Our emerging from the see town has not one but two piers I tend to show you in small doses respectively, the one closer to the town center we're in the process of getting to love and we're oh so near. It may sound crazy but I'd love to serve the yummiest summer food on the wooden deck with our feet dangling meters above the shiny surface. It could be a fancy picnic-styled afternoon tea or just a couple of blood oranges drizzled in honey eaten on a quick stroll down the beach. I tell you, watch this tasty space and I'll watch for the right weather. Nadia was one happy monkey stopping for a glance at this and that, pulling our hands to show us what was calling to her like you can't be sure if the discovery was meant to be taken lightly.

The stroll also marked Damian's birthday we celebrated with delicious ice cream that had that fruit flavour to make us fall in love with. Having it together on a warm springtime afternoon might just be the best present he gets all year (not to mention a serious bottle of his new favorite scent I don't hesitate to 'borrow' hoping there'll never be version for girls because well, I'm simply so into each vapour).

A PLACE FULL OF WONDER
THIS VIEW IS NOT FOR FAINT HEARTED
ABANDONED MEANS OURS
UNTIL MY BODY IS WAY BEHIND ME I'M HERE

The paths led us through equally deserted park full of creatures eager to pose for the camera in exchange for a crumb or a fry. We had neither and I'm still recovering from guilt just by looking at the photo of a squirrel patiently awaiting her share. Next time we run to the overwhelming peacefulness of this park, we'll sure bring a treat with us providing she still craves some.

IT'S HERE WE HAVE FUN
HELLO SWEET CREATURE
Have a wonderful weekend, friends! We girls are flying to Poland on Monday for a quick and sweet catch-up with the family. Just a thought of upcoming events makes me disturbingly giddy. I sure prepared some fun posts so check them out while I'm away! xx

WHEELS FESTIVAL IN BOURNEMOUTH

Occupied would be understatement, busy falls under an exaggeration so let's settle for three days full of activity of all sorts. I mentioned in the last post about Wheels Festival we had opportunity to witness over the weekend advertised as Britain's biggest wheels themed family events across the town and seafront. We contentedly watched motorcycle stunts from afar and had beautiful and historic classic cars racing so close that their bygone charm made up for any noise they made. We're so lucky to be living in a place that surprises us every day with well-known and totally and utterly new things happening within its boarders. We walked all afternoon until the sunset then headed back home passing by our shoreline bestudded in carrousels, candy floss stalls and bouncy castle abandoned for the night. So as long as there are things to do and admire, we're all so so in.

Those stunts, guys. A taste of what people are doing in their free time while others are thrill-seeking elsewhere. They're meant to be admired and we did just so.

Did I mention the race course? On the streets of our town prepared for swishing and whooshing way before the event took place. We learned where it was okay to cross the road and where we needed more than a guide to blend in and stay safe. Forget Monaco, change a lifestyle and stay with us for the weekend. I only wished this was your thing. xx
