║today my way║

Once the wind calms down, clouds shift aside, getting a head-start in occupying the beach rarely happen. There are more crazy people out there who could call the shore their second home and we are not them. We still find ways to spot many incredible beaches though and we do take notes which ones will come to mind when we're done with cold and rain. But soon the surroundings will completely change for this little girl which is quite overwhelming to even think of - there will be forests, countryside roads, fruit gardens, towns full of stone, sandy paths and deep lakes - all to experience fondly within two weeks of summer holidays. I am on the other hand staying put with my little boy showing him bits of the seaside and bits of dry land. Our beloved slice of the world.

Summer holidays are important inspiration for the cold seasons ahead, even more important for Nadia to see her close family during this sweaty time. Every year I go to great lengths ensuring she has more opportunities to eat great food, speak only Polish, be as playful as grandmas will let her. I want the days to be slow and messy, I want to notice more freckles on her nose and no hesitation in running full force towards those who love her dearly. I want to see her watering plants only grandpa knows the names of, picking fresh produce and piling it by handfuls straight into her mouth, unwashed, sweet and delicious. I want her to spend too long smelling the rain and soil, walking distances between familiar places and those who are not, falling asleep so tired it delights. Every summer I want her to count days to boarding a plane, pack her backpack sometimes around May and choose the theme colour of summer dresses way before the websites announce the trends. I want to listen to her telling me what this time will be like even though every summer seems to be different from the last. From the moment she rises till the late hours of each spring - I want her to dream of Poland and carry those dreams with her way beyond the school gate. It's not negotiable, it's not a part of any discussion, the best thing I can possibly do for my children, for us as a family is to ensure that year after year they embrace the moments on a soil I know and cherish beyond comprehension. That they recognize their roots and faces of each and everyone I owe a lot more than just features, habits and fondest memories. And really Polish sun feels so good on our skin, trying to work through the dates and looking for cheap flights is just a formality - every year, after school closes for its annual break in educating. It's all adding up to creating memories and that's why it's so important.

Have a great day, friends!

Waiting - I've just realized - can be a blessing, I think I'm allowed to type. While I have been feeling all sorts of emotions lately, the nervous anticipation of what kind of labour I will go through is what exactly I haven't thought of. Being late to taking first deep breath, my baby boy is letting me take advantage of a rainbow of feelings due to my embarrassing impatience (with some amount of frustration appearing once in a way) that labour rarely crosses my mind. Awesome, right? I'd rather visualize first milky breaths and toothless yawns, put our first trips to the beach in the centre of my mind naturally avoiding images consisting of a birthing pool, hospital bed and the Entonox machine I used before with such ease and no spectacular results. The overload of what's here and now helps me to avoid drilling into unanswerable questions, fear and possible complications. I prefer to look beyond noticing the little things like my grey roots I will not have a chance to tackle straight away or nail varnish that is getting bothersome by the day.

Just this morning all my vivid visions conceived in a hazy insomniac state were nothing but tons of images of a sweet tiny body clung to my milky breasts and soft slip worn under as opposite to midwives scurrying around in panic. Just snuggling, connecting, feeling blessed.

If energy permits I'll end the day with some fresh pineapple as everybody kindly suggests and maybe this well-known natural way of speeding up labour will bring our precious boy home. x

Beach is unarguably the best place to walk for hours on end. It stretches beyond sight and if you're prepared for occasional blister or five, join the hike. I'm into my 40th, final week of pregnancy and although I've kept fairly busy throughout, this is the time I make no mistakes sitting on the couch for long. I may be a little weary today from all the walking but happy for the exciting news spreading out any minute now. I really wouldn't have it any other way - challenging my bump and introducing him to the active style I call my life. It may also encourage my little boy to greet us sooner than later so buzzing with energy that's still left I'm kicking my shoes off and head to the shore. It's been my go-to place whenever I felt I needed to think something over or get my emotions straight, even once I had plenty to do at home, taking a long beach walk made no harm in the long run. It calms me down, it does me good. Exhausts a little but never too much.

Nadia loved running in front and leading the way, we followed her with attainable speed, sat near and watched her materialize ideas in sand. It was windy and bearably chilly, quite glorious to tell the truth. As I watched my girl being a happy child, so many thoughts rushed through my head - soon there will be a pushchair accompanying our every outing, learning how to avoid daily/town-assigned inconveniences like flights of stairs or high curbs, queues and so forth. Thankfully no bus rides for us anymore! Life with two, fast paced and wonderful. Have a great weekend friends! x

►► Chocolate robot didn't last long, wasn't even partially shared. Begged to be devoured.

The colour of her cheeks and the shine in her eyes. The ruffles of a skirt, stripes covering busy legs mixed with even more on top. The shade of the sea and our companion of a clear sky, green bushes seduced by the evening sun. Today it may be the blue and corn yellow, tomorrow other inspiration will take over as we know ourselves well enough not to fight it. Inconsistency in hues is the only priority. So is the change of scenery, mood and means of transport (hello scooter days!), change of circumstances. I love the experiences that come with it all.

We still walk a lot or I should say, I still do and that is my biggest achievement as of late. But as an investment activity, I'll take it and go wherever the streets will take me. This time it was Swanage again, a place where everything has started for us on English soil and because we've known the place like inside and out and a little beyond, we just settled on trying what we know and love - from visiting Chococo, a chocolate factory with cute creations making their way to our mouths way too easily, dining on fish and chips overlooking the sea in its prettiest tint of blue, rummaging through trinkets and inessentials of a Curiosity Store stocking more wonders than a child's toy basket can hold were the most to be happy with. Weather was not to be left go unnoticed too - clear skies and a slight breeze steered us into the shinier side of life.

A busy weekend ahead of us - glamming up our bedroom with some colour. I hope it will prove that with a little creativity (and a lot of swishing of paint brushes) we can turn this space into something worth oohing and aahing at. Photographing too. Happy weekend, friends!

Spring breaks or any short breaks we can totally enjoy as a family during school holidays is a time we crave like a well planned and executed meal cheered with loud squeals and anticipation of sorts. We don't usually get enough of quality time as three with my weekend working schedule so trying our absolute best while the opportunity comes our way is the answer. And if weather cooperates the yummier. I tend to shed the outer layers far too quickly once the chirping of birds gets noticeable, I may still experience a bit of a goosebumps situation but will highly refuse the coat or the scarf once it's been left on hook. There's no compromise.

This day was great. I am constantly reminded that less planned and more laid-back outing, the whole experience is worth the waiting. We went to the nearby playground and in between swings and rounds around the area, Nadia sat to rest and draw enthusiastically on the bench next to me trying to find the best position on the hard surface. There was lots of laughter, silly jokes, maybe a meltdown too but I don't really remember that. What I do remember is having all my favourite people in one place to have fun with and more. And a bag of salty chips for the afternoon of salty kisses.

This hat was bought on sale, first that I found made in my size! I may be loving slouchy, one-size-fits-all blouses and sweaters but hats must be dedicated to the circumference of one's head, don't you agree? How hard is it to understand and force in the production line, retailers? Anyway, I'm happy to announce the miracle of being paired with one even if for another decade (I hope not). The seaside we finished our escapade at was windy but beautifully sunny and everybody and their dog was surely there. I can't wait to stroll down the beach more often this year, this time with a little hand in mine and a sweet milky lips brushing over the top of my shirt. I literally can't wait. x

As the day is long I could excitedly just wander about and gasp at every turning wherever my swollen feet would take me. Seaside or bit further inland. Cold interiors with windows not fully enclosed in pictures. Gardens and muddy paths examining my balancing skills. I'm a rolling stone after all and you know that. I lay quietly for longer, go about the daily life and then this rolling detector activates and there's no meantime, no postponing and no stepping aside. It's all about getting the soles out the door until no further notice. Winter has finally realized it can't keep up with blossoming trees anymore and that's my favourite thing at the moment! I think I've forgotten how to enjoy a simple walk. Unrushed, unaccompanied, in direction of no worries, no purpose and no particular business at all. I lie when I say unaccompanied, I have the sun seducing my eyelids, time paying no attention, extra thick knee high socks peeking from worn out boots and enough phone battery to be content about not forgetting any of my nonsense. Occasionally I could do with a pair of sunglasses and more sunscreen on my fading freckles; I could do with more frequent trips to the public restrooms but I can't do it without spring anymore! Getting safely from A to B usually depends on my sensibility in taking the right equipment (hello, umbrella, always in all the wrong places) or just being on time for the bus - when friends and their cars are on hand, I can totally ignore the above. I'm so ridiculously glad this flower of mine wants to be included in any escapade that either requires strong legs or just a hat and pair of gloves. Tirelessly, with cheeks of the brightest pink she's my partner in straying around. I'm glad she's there by my side without even realizing how important her presence is. Her observations on point and arguments of sorts. Her guesses, gasps and sense of a six year old humour. The whole vigorous package in stripy tights and milky winter hat.
►► Who is going to grow taller?

With a quick rainpour not ruining any of the fun, we had a wonderful time just wandering. Isn't it what we love best? And castles or cathedrals, old stone in general. Always a tick. We land at the doorstep as rather expected visitors encouraged to ask and receive, our own pace is respected and only a flash photography frown at. We tire our necks from looking up to ceilings and stained glass renovated at least eight times since a typical day of the past but we keep looking. We read bits on the walls about fascinating marriages, inheritors, murders and fires. We look for signs of mice and hidden staircase for when tired out we generally don't want to attract the crowd. And can't wait to be back to our rented space because there's hot water and neflix even if it hasn't been renovated since we first moved in.

I was a bit nervous as to how I would cope walking for couple of hours but there was nothing to really worry about. We did several stops for coffee and rested our feet on occasional bench which was totally expected and awesomely awaited. And even after almost a whole day out I don't think we were ready to head home yet. With rain scheduled for late afternoon, banging on the roof of my friend's car we drove to neighbouring town Lymington for a wet stroll through closing shops and people rushing home for the weekend. Fascinations come and drift away, I believe my traveling sensor will stay activated till I'm gray and grumpy. Or mostly gray.
