║today my way║

If this was my first pregnancy I'd be going crazy because this time it has definitely been challenging me greater than almost 7 years ago even if I'm skipping summer months. If this was little known experience I'd go insane from happiness but soon try and find ways to survive the good portion of it. If this was my first, it would also be my only.

Having only good experiences with carrying Nadia, I assumed I'm bound to feel fantastic each time I may be a mama. Why would it be otherwise? Not much has changed in my body, just more wrinkles appeared and grey hair arrived, all the good stuff we're lucky to experience by this lifetime. My hips were pretty obvious but still played it cool in classic black and higher heels. I kept being physically active while didn't avoid local cafes and occasional pleasures of junk food. Little did I know it takes a lot more to determine how a pregnancy will go. For this time everything was happening at once - work, school runs, driving lessons, nausea, hormone imbalance, a six year old and her spontaneous challenging extravagance. Harmoniously. The concept was the same, the reality shook it up.

Nadia came on her due date with book-like symptoms from waters breaking and contractions intensifying regularly. Too easy to have the same mission twice. So being 6 days overdue and less than excited about it I'm occupying my mind with whatever. And there is a lot of it (I only try to avoid looking at the clock, counting hours) - plots and episodes my bookshelves are heavy from, piles of Nadia's new summer clothes needing their tags removed, creases smoothed and maybe being shown around in quick twirls and bounces. Not getting right to it, but there's more - finishing stories scheduled for after tomorrows, rolling up sleeves and getting those windows sparklingly clean, lingering on Instagram for way too long. I could even start taking before and after pics for no obvious reasons but fun. The trick is of course to focus on all the silly stuff, to lose myself in small pieces of a day.

In between setting myself unconventional projects while waiting I don't avoid fresh air, weekends are therefore the icing on the sugar-loaded cake. Seaside awakening from months of dreariness, local paths, meadows and parks sit on my end-of-week list of places to waddle to. Suit me more than fine as you can witness. I just need more outfit ideas and probably a couple more staples in supporting my growing bump and nearby features affixed to it. It's simply becoming an ongoing leaving-house problem when choosing what to slow pace in. This particular day was exceptionally beautiful in terms of company and weather. Armed with relaxing read, sun block, badminton rackets and lots of hydrating equipment we could stay there for more than several games and do so much cooler things while done with many others. I slept like a baby afterwards though soothing aching calves never stops. But soon it will, I know that. x

As the day is long I could excitedly just wander about and gasp at every turning wherever my swollen feet would take me. Seaside or bit further inland. Cold interiors with windows not fully enclosed in pictures. Gardens and muddy paths examining my balancing skills. I'm a rolling stone after all and you know that. I lay quietly for longer, go about the daily life and then this rolling detector activates and there's no meantime, no postponing and no stepping aside. It's all about getting the soles out the door until no further notice. Winter has finally realized it can't keep up with blossoming trees anymore and that's my favourite thing at the moment! I think I've forgotten how to enjoy a simple walk. Unrushed, unaccompanied, in direction of no worries, no purpose and no particular business at all. I lie when I say unaccompanied, I have the sun seducing my eyelids, time paying no attention, extra thick knee high socks peeking from worn out boots and enough phone battery to be content about not forgetting any of my nonsense. Occasionally I could do with a pair of sunglasses and more sunscreen on my fading freckles; I could do with more frequent trips to the public restrooms but I can't do it without spring anymore! Getting safely from A to B usually depends on my sensibility in taking the right equipment (hello, umbrella, always in all the wrong places) or just being on time for the bus - when friends and their cars are on hand, I can totally ignore the above. I'm so ridiculously glad this flower of mine wants to be included in any escapade that either requires strong legs or just a hat and pair of gloves. Tirelessly, with cheeks of the brightest pink she's my partner in straying around. I'm glad she's there by my side without even realizing how important her presence is. Her observations on point and arguments of sorts. Her guesses, gasps and sense of a six year old humour. The whole vigorous package in stripy tights and milky winter hat.
►► Who is going to grow taller?

With a quick rainpour not ruining any of the fun, we had a wonderful time just wandering. Isn't it what we love best? And castles or cathedrals, old stone in general. Always a tick. We land at the doorstep as rather expected visitors encouraged to ask and receive, our own pace is respected and only a flash photography frown at. We tire our necks from looking up to ceilings and stained glass renovated at least eight times since a typical day of the past but we keep looking. We read bits on the walls about fascinating marriages, inheritors, murders and fires. We look for signs of mice and hidden staircase for when tired out we generally don't want to attract the crowd. And can't wait to be back to our rented space because there's hot water and neflix even if it hasn't been renovated since we first moved in.

I was a bit nervous as to how I would cope walking for couple of hours but there was nothing to really worry about. We did several stops for coffee and rested our feet on occasional bench which was totally expected and awesomely awaited. And even after almost a whole day out I don't think we were ready to head home yet. With rain scheduled for late afternoon, banging on the roof of my friend's car we drove to neighbouring town Lymington for a wet stroll through closing shops and people rushing home for the weekend. Fascinations come and drift away, I believe my traveling sensor will stay activated till I'm gray and grumpy. Or mostly gray.

When clothes and castles are involved, we're entirely in. And although my pregnant belly did not fit in those slim charming frocks, I could still play with the abundance of hats and scarves while waddling about. It was hard to leave the spot once fabrics started flying around but we decided to move on and explore the place and its beautiful grounds you have to come back to see next time. This half term I made a few plans to keep us busy but not overwhelmingly exhausted since my physical abilities are at their greatest only near my own sofa and a bedside table so just the local spots were considered. And as you know there are plenty of them where we live, it wasn't too hard to head that way. This incredible castle, Highcliffe Castle that can be hired as a wedding venue (scroll down to get speechless over the sunny ceremony room with high windows overlooking landscaped garden and my sweet flower as a Registrar) is situated less than half an hour from our house, not too big to explore within desired time and supplying great coffee always helps. There is a short pathway straight towards the sea we had to investigate but were back to the grounds as soon as my hair started drifting in all ridiculous directions thanks to wind of no mercy. Exactly the trip for easily life taking people ;).

►► I loved the interior wholeheartedly and fell instantly in love with the light explosion hitting the room from all angles. Those two turkeys didn't mind appreciating it while resting their legs.

Have a great week, friends!

No, don't be alarmed we're suffering the worst summer to date, those pictures reflect the springtime which judging by hair being blown in all directions and warm clothes hindering our movements -- these are not recent. As mentioned previously in post about Kingston Maurward Gardens, here is the last batch of activities we immersed ourselves in while accompanied by a sudden rainpour. Yes, the sun eventually emerged and wedged us out of layers we were loyal to for the trip. Rain aside, muddy ground too, we had a brilliant time. Animals had brilliant time and everyone who happened to visit Kingston Maurward that day was pleased to have the place mostly to themselves while all the rest of the district curled up on the sofa whilst feeling sorry for those scrapping mud off their boots. Or ballerinas if you happen to be me. For us it meant extra coffee squeezed in in anticipation for a clearer sky but I guess, you just have to roll with it if you're going to have any fun. Not easy but manageable.

We had a lot to get through - animal pens and back of the gardens while snacking along the way, embracing each lick and sniff with grace and handfuls of food designed to keep the glances friendly. Simply enjoying it without overdoing it. I particularly loved watching Nadia interacting with the animal world that is not vitally our every-day view. You see an unbelievable number of cats and dogs on the streets at any given weather but a goat, llama, pig that is not necessarily pink - that is something extraordinary for a five year old town-raised child. She was curious but cautious, found simple things about the lot quite hilarious at times and was partly involved in feeding. There was a nice learn/play balance throughout this trip so big thanks to all furry creatures for only slightly limiting to how close they'd actually let us get.

Then the evening rolled around so we closed the adventure with a stroll down the back of the garden to discover more breathtaking views I didn't hesitate to capture. I'll sound like a broken record but those places, these colours fill my heart like nothing else giving me enough energy for the weeks ahead. I'm a countryside girl after all.

Have a great day, friends! x

The amount of free leaflets to be taken and studied as one pleases around here is unbearable for a local, let alone a sun-burnt tourist. You find them everywhere - at favourite lounge, library shelf, souvenir shop, haven't checked my local greengrocer's yet but I'm nearly there so watch for updates. One is obliged to pick up a few and make an effort to commit on visiting. Every now and again and most reasonably on Nadia's days off school, the shuffling of leaflets begins. Decision is mostly made on our preferences, the weather promises and generally this formula has never failed us. The trick is to go for the factors appealing to the three of us (me, my friend and Nadia) - a space to roam free and unsupervised as a 5 year old would advise, a seated area providing light snacks and reasonably brewed drink and an indoor dated space breathing history and indicating 'do not touch' or 'ask for assistance'. Anything else is a bonus or a great obstacle we don't mind winning over.

So towards the end of half term my motorized friend and us girls decided to visit Blue Pool, place of a great wild beauty situated only an hour away from the civilization. A great space for all sorts of explorations and girlie talks. We chose to follow the red, less rugged path with no chance to skip on activities such as looking for squirrels and woodpeckers cleverly hidden in branches for kids to find and exchange for certificate. The lake was the prettiest thing we saw, changing colour according to the light preference making everyone stop and gasp intermittently. The day was warm with occasional wind and if I didn't put the sunscreen on I'm sure I'd end up expanding on my freckles collection. We're used to hiking for miles so it was not a burden to rely on our two feet and nice footwear, me carrying anything essential for making this escapade worthwhile for our lot. I admired the greenery and abundance of flowers taken care of the way I imagine doing with my garden one day. There is always a plan to a wild arrangement, a method of plants existing together but appearing accidental. My way of pleasing the eye.

Nadia spotted a little play area which gave me and my friend a chance to sit and submerge in a conversation about hair conditioning and preparing it for summer holiday. You know, regular topics that spark interest in the middle of the forest or in a cafè full of exciting chatter. After we left the park the only understandable direction to take in unison was a place to eat and indulge in a good caffeine intake. We found this historic restaurant with original wooden ceiling beams and a dated fireplace adding this fantastic touch of relaxing and familiar. We ordered a vegetable bruchetta with a side salad and a plate of fries for Nadia to find out they were closing and our anticipation for coffee turned into disappointing grunting. But we're easily pleased so heading home for some dinner leftovers wasn't a bad option. Not for our already satisfied with the escapade minds.
Happy mid-week friends! x
