WHY IT'S TIME FOR SUMMER TO ACT LIKE ONE
WHY IT'S TIME FOR SUMMER TO ACT LIKE ONE
A truly inspiring place. The red hue, washed out blue, peaceful fields admired from all angles, heavily explored, truly loved. Running errands and catching up on much needed zzzz doesn't exist in this household. All you catch up on is everything that may not always be obvious but eyes will definitely find the way to it. I used to believe in postponing my life and its activities until I have reached my goal so I could be ready when the time was right. I hope not any more. I'm here to plan the best for our future and decorate our present, stay here and there at the same time, be happy then and even happier now, do the things we want and plan even more. This has become my religion. I'd love to find the right place for us to settle, breathe and love. A space truly wrapping its arms around us revealing its mysterious spots and people to our hearts' delight. For me this place was a foreign country opening its arms in a welcoming pose. It’s not always been rosy and stress-free but I cannot imagine breathing different air and stomping on other soil. I love my tiny space in a country I have chosen to settle down and will always come back to places I was raised in - my heart is happily divided.

As to our little life together, we have to start doing it right. I want to own a house at some point in my life: spacious bedrooms, big green garden with a fountain in front of the entrance. My place on earth but... at the moment I’d love to rent a pleasant, bright and warm end of terrace house with nice size rooms and access onto rear garden to feel private enough to go there in my sweat pants or without them (whichever feels more comfortable), engage myself in many ways in bringing our little space to life through personal assignments of wall painting and furniture arranging.

Depressingly related: we used to have sun around this latitude and walked to the beach. Don’t get me wrong but mid-July has never been so worryingly damp around here. It has rained for most of the week and of all the things in the world to be done in such weather hosting visitors is only slightly amusing. Our landlords are away but invited their friend with his Italian girlfriend to keep us company for a couple of days. Of course emotional chaos doesn't help socializing but it will be okay. I mean, how could it not be? x

LET'S DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT

LET'S DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT
LET'S DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT

Laughter is spilling out into the hallway as we are mindlessly running around the empty property we're happy to be the main and (so far) only inhabitants for the next three weeks. Our landlords are leisurely sat in games room or on decked area for a quiet read under the parasol overlooking turquoise surface of the pool overtaken by colourful inflatables of their beautiful secluded farmhouse in France and this time there is nobody to come unexpectedly to rent quiet rooms plentiful in soft cat hair and their confident appearance at any given time. Even so I expressed my wish of inviting Damian's brother with his fiancèe to stay with us for a couple of days since the cluttered rooms are irresistible for napping at high noon or eating juicy fruit leaving marks all over rugs. Because it's not only flinging the patio door open enabling summer to enter to keep us on top of our moods but we have more fascinating news to think about - Damian's twin brother is getting married in less than three weeks time!!! I know, right!

I'll tell you their romantic story next time so you can immediately fall in love with the idea of enthusiastic elopement away from the hustle and bustle to perfect African settings. The only downside is we're not going to see them tying the knot and dancing till dawn with stars hung over their heads. But on the other hand I love how without worries and distractions they will carry each other to new destinations and the peaceful surroundings flooding their senses will be remembered for happy years to come. How exciting!

Helping others with their big day undoubtedly brought thoughts to our well-postponed celebration of love. Will we be next in line to the city hall? Wearing delicate custom made puffy white dress or exploring my closet to see what could casually work on steps outside the building while Damian sporting a black tuxedo would unwittingly attract the girls watching us on the street. Yeah, picturing it makes me a little itchy. But isn't love we have for each other enough to match any - big and expensive or unique and intimate wedding? Will it mean for me more than all the marriages in my family devastatingly ended, painfully remembered and happily forgotten? I will clap and cheer, throw confetti on anyone walking down the aisle, listen carefully to their vows. I will love that. But we've written our vows a long time ago with tears and laughter, arguments and promises. We've lived a married life for four years now and loved most of it. It might feel just right one day to have a tea ceremony or a proper wedding being more about family and friends however we're happy just the way we are. Who's getting married next? I'll excitedly stop off at my favorite sidewalk flower stand in my neighborhood to pick up a bouquet on the way!
