PARENTS' SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR TRAVELING WITHOUT KIDS
We haven't exhausted the world of firsts yet and as long as a word 'mama'
appears next to my name there will be multiple things terrifying us for
that very first time. First 24 hours away from our little polka dot lover announced here can be ticked off with a sign of relief - Nadia is not a big fan of being apart from us however given two cousins to play with tirelessly for long hours, waving goodbye wasn't as rough on her as we expected. It was us, her parents who weren't sure if our hearts could take it and looked forward to cuddle her more than she could stand after we've returned so I came up with a short parents' survival guide for everyone who will experience being away from your child at some point. Do not look forward to it, I tell you.
1. Make sure they stay with someone they're comfortable with. Entrusting somebody with the well-being of the one person in the world that you love more than yourself will make your trip more bearable. Teaming up with Damian's brother and his unpredictable in their playfulness sons was all thumbs up. For longer journeys or short plays in the park. Always (thank you, guys!!).

2. Get busy on your trip! Use up (wisely or not) every minute you have skillfully creating a crazy vibe around well thought out activities or simple hanging out. The more to see and do, the better. So we ran, changed directions, talked to people, ran some more buzzing with ideas what to do next. 'Where has the day gone?' took us closer to seeing our tiny face.
3. Look around for whether that’s a piece she'd like to have or something different but you don't know what. Having open mind for little gifts is a way to stay sane and in control for a while. Picking little pieces that doesn't have to cost the earth while picturing her excitement and looking some more made perfect sense.
4. Enjoy your time. How unnatural it sounds but it's true. Delicious latte at the airport, a little bickering with hubby that drizzling is actually a rain pour, a few snaps of the sky from a cabin seat at different camera angles took our minds away from increased heartbeats at the thought of how incomplete we were without her.

I know when my sister traveled with me and my other sister - she left her son at home and felt terribly even if we were in London for just 4 days! My parents have never traveled without me.

DeleteThe best tip is to get ridiculously busy on your trip as we were. This helped a lot with pushing the hours until meeting our girl. And of course asking someone we know too well to stay and babysit is more than needed. :)
