║today my way║

Today was a good day. Sunny to the blinding point, cold yet mild enough to feel relaxed and abundant in activities of sorts. We like to visit places for the first time however we absolutely don't mind checking in again and again. Bournemouth Oceanarium is such a nice place aimed at kids from different age groups with animal feeding times happening every half an hour to their hearts delight (both kids and animals). It was a great occasion to go and having Nadia as my sweet companion was a highlight of the trip. Walking past the big Amazonian fish was definitely one of the scariest experiences so I tried not to get her out of her comfort zone and we swooshed ahead to admire more pleasant species like puff fish or seahorses. There were sharks and turtles of course, there was not just one happy child too. Overall we had a great time and wouldn't mind taking advantage of the place pretty soon.

►► See what I'm talking about? Not so friendly looking fellas ;)

Have a lovely long Easter holiday, friends!

For many of us, the words 'fun' and 'theme parks' always go hand in hand - no matter if you're four feet tall or not at all but you can still reach the highest shelf in any bathroom. I think they are fun - acres featuring objects tailored to satisfy everybody with a valid entry ticket and good grip shoes. Partly it's the child accommodated in all of us waiting to decrease the balance between well dressed & respectable and untamed and ready to shake the neighbourhood. Can be achieved any kind of way but never so appreciated if holding a little hand - for courage or pleasure. Sometimes both.

The Crocodile Creek was a hit we had a go at twice. Nothing like a good splash out. What interesting here is -- in the process of going down the water slide everybody knows exactly what they are going to be a centre of (ton of water splashed without notice) yet they come out surprised and a little disappointed? The faces I witnessed after getting wet were an explosion of mixed feelings. But yes, the excited and fully satisfied exceeded. You could also get a printed photo of such explosion painted on your face as there is a hidden camera in a relevant spot to keep you haunted at night but I made sure I took enough photos of everybody I recognized, there was no need of paying for something an adult would never allow to go public.

Theme parks are scattered around in our area like supermarkets and off licence shops. For any kind of experience and age group however everybody will find a thing or five to get transformed from humble straight-walking citizen into a screaming pair of shorts while holding a candy floss for a full experience. This particular place I believe will become our long time favourite - accommodating a great portion of sea creatures (penguins, otters, silly behaving seals, sharks and selection of tropical fish) breaks the experience into educational and wild, breathtaking (seaworms that actually respond to hand motions from behind the glass tank) and heart-stopping (any kind of carrousel or drop tower moment delivered in a sequence of emotional breakdown). Anything else is fun too. Eating in the open in the full view of a few local seagulls trying to intimidate us to give up or share the meal when neither option works well if both parties are hungry and have to pay attention. Or shopping in the gift shop but in the midst of plush, plastic and too much sugar it is the last place a parent wants to visit voluntarily.

But just as much as we like to explore each and every noisy attraction within the park, there's no stopping us from chilling out on the outskirts of any place for well needed, totally relaxed time with no one waiting for us to order, move or calm down. Sometimes I feel this is the best time of any visit. But it only works like that after we've come out exhausted, sweaty and barely moving our legs forward. Or wanting to be picked up every five steps if we're talking our offspring. It's the time to catch up on what we missed while having fun, tell a few jokes, talk over weird wardrobe choices of people queuing behind. Eating leftover sandwiches or giving them to the seagulls. You've got to allow for a bit of a quiet sphere after a mad experience, a stepping back to enjoy the day. And teaching important lessons is essential too - why only a handful of tries could be the winning ones and that lucky not always means the outcome but the attitude. We'll get those minions next time! x

No, don't be alarmed we're suffering the worst summer to date, those pictures reflect the springtime which judging by hair being blown in all directions and warm clothes hindering our movements -- these are not recent. As mentioned previously in post about Kingston Maurward Gardens, here is the last batch of activities we immersed ourselves in while accompanied by a sudden rainpour. Yes, the sun eventually emerged and wedged us out of layers we were loyal to for the trip. Rain aside, muddy ground too, we had a brilliant time. Animals had brilliant time and everyone who happened to visit Kingston Maurward that day was pleased to have the place mostly to themselves while all the rest of the district curled up on the sofa whilst feeling sorry for those scrapping mud off their boots. Or ballerinas if you happen to be me. For us it meant extra coffee squeezed in in anticipation for a clearer sky but I guess, you just have to roll with it if you're going to have any fun. Not easy but manageable.

We had a lot to get through - animal pens and back of the gardens while snacking along the way, embracing each lick and sniff with grace and handfuls of food designed to keep the glances friendly. Simply enjoying it without overdoing it. I particularly loved watching Nadia interacting with the animal world that is not vitally our every-day view. You see an unbelievable number of cats and dogs on the streets at any given weather but a goat, llama, pig that is not necessarily pink - that is something extraordinary for a five year old town-raised child. She was curious but cautious, found simple things about the lot quite hilarious at times and was partly involved in feeding. There was a nice learn/play balance throughout this trip so big thanks to all furry creatures for only slightly limiting to how close they'd actually let us get.

Then the evening rolled around so we closed the adventure with a stroll down the back of the garden to discover more breathtaking views I didn't hesitate to capture. I'll sound like a broken record but those places, these colours fill my heart like nothing else giving me enough energy for the weeks ahead. I'm a countryside girl after all.

Have a great day, friends! x

She's a friend. Spectacular and pregnant recently. She's the one I miss to share knowledge over the arsenal of shoes with or choose the right shape of jeans to complement my legs overly discouraged from showing. I miss her even more when new menu is introduced at my favourite lounge as there's nothing like sharing a meal you'd not normally order on a Monday afternoon. But I do get to see her to insane extent while traipsing through dusty bumpy Polish streets, I get used to having her on my speed dial. She's responsible for all my large bills thanks to the roaming mode and I'm responsible for her cravings and feet bunions. But she doesn't mind, walks bravely and sweet, carrying the bundle of joy she'll call her son along with her.

The sky was sympathetic today, no excess heat, not even moderate wind so we set off dressed lightly and irresponsibly. Lives lived to the full and back. So we walked up and down local Ethnographic Park presenting a range of agricultural buildings from all over Silesia, enormous open-air museum dotted with cottages, barns and a farm of flock of sheep accompanying our footsteps as they were let roam free at some point called our names and provided a morning of physical exhaustion. Not only we discovered the amount of rain our coats can take but that walking together might easily become our next best thing. If only our paths weren't divided by the English channel. But with the baby on the way I'm hoping for more unpredictable gatherings and moments of fun. After my friend's had some sleep first of course. So naturally kids are on topic and babies never leave our thought. It is the season of our lives to be less appropriate among others rolling their eyes on the amount of onesies that get mentioned in our conversation. But it wasn't like that for a long time and I'm delighted for her happiness. And sleepless nights. But also for her hands full of sweet chubbiness.

It wasn't long enough to start cursing the rarely pleasing sky and hide under the old cottage roof just to be reminded that if it rained it won't hesitate to persist with its attitude. A warm coffee for me and a reasonably brewed tea for my friend felt just right. And a delicious piece of cheesecake Nadia helped me devour. Time stood still (I could tell I didn't take my watch with me) but also it was a moment that felt so sacred - us girls plopped down on beaten up wooden bench warming our knuckles on taupe porcelain. She's been initiated - to soon be running alone those street corners getting her thoughts right at sidewalk flower stands and stopping to get a doughnut or bottle of still water. She'll find her paths, her best shrubs of evergreen fences to come back to any given morning or afternoon. She'll like the time only a sight of a nearby lake will make her feel, she'll stop and stare at the budding trees and wriggling pair of cotton rich socks.

And on our way back to the car she skillfully operates, Nadia struggled to cope with the ever changing attitude of clouds. She left her overcoat at home trusting the sky with her five year old faithful heart not long before it decided to play around with everything in its power. I gave her my jacket leaving me only in my light white shirt but a child looking ridiculous in oversized garment is better than a frozen child with a gigantic fever first thing after coming home. We made it to the car, believe us or not and I was half expecting to hear nothing for the next hour or so due to experiencing the power of howling wind from each side. Shockingly, it didn't happen and I tick this time as the best day we could dream of or dress for or both.
