║today my way║

A whale suitcase is watching me writing last post before taking off to the continent, a sweet snoring tune under the blinking window lights of my bathed girl is accompanying quiet run of my fresh manicured fingers while choosing the words. I have a couple of posts queuing together with more photos than it is humanly possible to decide which will find their home here and on top of that we're flying to Poland later this evening so there is necessity for some more delays but I'll be back quickly enough to bring snow-sprinkled snapshots. I want to enjoy it to the last cell though we have nothing really planned except for experiencing the white down and photographing mini daily adventures in minus temperatures. See you next year, my dears!!! (I'll be back in a week's time to be precise.)

And happy birthday to my brother who turns 30 today and whom I'm just a short flight away.

Should you avoid pleasure when you're more on the sneezing side? Definitely and arguably not! As the colder days and party season is approaching I have spent some time 'adding to the basket' and impatiently awaiting the postman with too many parcels (I think I should start exchanging Christmas cards with one of them as he came by several times, ouch). With this little post I'd like to share my experience with finger shopping (online buying, my dears). Elbowing through the hordes on the high street neither testing my little muffin's patience in the changing rooms makes ordinary shopping a pleasurable activity. Add up my shivering cold and heading online seems to be the best option. I tried four well-known brands and with a few clicks welcomed more than dozen pieces to my closet.

The challenge began with UK's largest online-only fashion store - Asos. I have ordered navy dress in print which came slightly bigger than expected so after returning it, I went for the smaller size with my next order of a few jumpers and sweaters. Unlike the dress which accidentally came back in a shape of a T-shirt from the same collection, they were all perfect fit and landed at my doorstep the next day as stated. I kept the T-shirt which I liked more than the dress and was issued a refund of the price difference within the next day of informing the store. All in all I was very satisfied with the prompt reply, quick delivery and most of all the ease of browsing the website, however you have to bear in mind that models presenting the clothes are much much taller than some of us and choosing dresses can give us a nasty surprise. Jumpers fitted heavenly, one dress had to be cut shorter but I made that choice consciously while adding it to my shopping basket. It's made from a stretch jersey fabric so the alteration was a piece of cake. I hope it will show up here soon. Next came ESPRIT with a pair of white slim jeans and grey sweater - both fitted perfectly and delivery was quick and hassle free. I also chose a woolen jumper from Boden which fits as I would wish it to. My last experience was Mango and a half woolen, half leather winter coat I fancied (big move, I know) - at first not really happy with the delivery as I had no confirmation from the courier by email or text message as to the day and time of them coming so I missed it but rearranged the delivery and got it the very next day.

All in all online shopping can give you goosebumps as when you see it you know what you're getting but the sizing guides on the websites are pretty accurate (prepare for measuring your bibs and bobs and keep record for later orders as on each online store measurement can vary), return and refund policies are clear and mostly free so the whole online Christmas shopping seems to be a good idea if you only have time and energy to go through the choices available (some details are easier to spot in-store like added accessory or a tricky zip so checking clothes from every angle is crucial). Once you've done it a couple of times, known the rules (mine is to always go for the smaller size if coming up as bigger in some areas) it becomes just as easy and satisfying as contact with real fabric.

Hey, this is my first post since... feels like since last spring and erm... how do I greet people? With a hug, kiss or handshake? Let's just settle with a warm welcome and a few covering words together with some picture overload. I have been busy but was never going away too far from my unorganized desk of which results will be posted slowly on these pages. Four days until Christmas - exciting time for big and small and even those who have antlers and wag their flips as seen above. Anything more thrilling than seeing a real Santa? Winter in Poland - with snow, ice, frozen fingers and red cheeks begging to be cuddled in fur. The winter wonderland adventure will begin next week and all I've been focusing on is hundreds of post-it notes stuck to every surface imaginable with things I will undoubtedly not come back without, activities scheduled for sunny and stormy days (coffee-tasting in between them), places (mostly sheltered) that had waited for our footprints way too long. I just can't wait.

As for the recent joy for my little Christmas helper (I love when she greets everybody with her loud "Merry Christmas!" and memorises lyrics to "Santa baby" song with my dubbing side effects) we went to see Santa together with Nadia's two little cousins. This, coupled with real and fake reindeer, ducks hanging from the ceiling, snowy wonderland and a great deal of carnival accessories made us never wanting warmer season again. But just for a short while after which we explored the mall a bit and seen a really cool ski resort mockup with a toy train going underneath the frozen mountain. I'll definitely make this place our before season shopping spot. Did Nadia like meeting the old, kind man handing her big present? Guided by her looks as not wanting to sit next to Santa I stayed close and gently rubbed her shoulder so she knew I was standing behind. She then nodded a couple of times accepting well wishes and ran away to the boys already holding their neatly wrapped presents. Be patient Santa, next year she'll chat you up.

The day has been great in so many ways and I'm so happy to be seeing my family soon.

Also I've been posting backwards - keep checking the archives which grow daily as I really like sharing some of our photos from the past together with explanations as to the particular time in our lives. Happy, mild in temperature weekend!
