║today my way║

Flower hair slide: Claire's, Roll-neck T-shirt: Vertbaudet, Light checks blouse: Vertbaudet, Jeans shorts: Next

After some of my wildest shopping trips I can totally struggle with squeezing all new clothes into a tiny dresser space Nadia has in our joint wardrobe. Before they even make it to the shelves, they're laid in front of me or hung in the air as I stretch my hand out while inspecting their softness, playfulness or just colour no longer reserved for others. It's kind of a welcoming ritual I celebrate until the first stain or hole. Buying for Nadia is so addictive, combining the old with the new is shouting to me even louder through accessories and textures so I hope you'll like a new feature on the blog - dressing up myself isn't nearly as fun as my little girl, I'll show you how it's done through weekly Pre-School Boutique petite fashion moments (the choice is never easily approved but we're trying ;)

Two tips for little fashionistas: want to wear shorts all winter? Layer up a pair of tights and leggins to keep warm from the waist down. Feeling spring in the air but the blouse is still risky on its own? Hide roll-neck underneath for extra comfort. Thanks for visiting the boutique.

Things have fabulously changed around here. My site has gone under the cropping tool whose possibilities surprise me each time I lay fingers on the keyboard. I love the minimalistic style I have achieved as a reward of hours of pasting and deleting. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I (temporarily) do. And just by looking at the photos of kids playing in the enormous puddle, you can be sure English weather hasn't spoilt us lately offering tree-bending wind, rain (sprinkle of snow as of today), getting a cold just looking out the window. And I think I have sneezed a couple of times too often to ignore it so excuse me while I bundle up in ridiculously soft blanket and finish a book I have started reading... before Christmas. I'd better hurry, it'll be midnight before I know it.

People collect postcards, stamps, receipts from their favourite restaurants. I collect tangle of emotions through my photographs and capturing, studying them afterwards makes me the happiest girl on earth especially when the images bring the best memories out.

Photograph I have chosen for the Printerpix competition celebrating photography together with Tots100 parenting website and giving away a fantastic prize to one lucky blogger is equally funny and heart warming - my three year old daughter playing freesbie and running after the disc with her grandma having the great daisy-sprinkled tract of field all for themselves. I would love to get overwhelmed with such view on daily or weekly basis but it is only so precious in its effortless family fun because of its rarity. Our whole family lives in Poland so when discovering unfamiliar lands while visiting us, they happily create a laid-back, weekend-like atmosphere of laughter and fun much to a great amusement of everyone, especially tiny pair of never pausing feet of my little girl. I love how she is excitedly looking up at her granny enjoying rare playful moments. And my mum-in-law looks ready for everything little doll will come up with on this warm summer day.

It seems like I had a delicious, proper amount of cake on my plate about ages ago. But it was only a matter of time before I was handed more than I could appreciate without a warning coming from the belt of my trousers. Nobody was immune to rich, chocolatey dessert which disappeared within seconds and was imprinted in multiple versions all over the furniture (sorry, folks!). The rhythm of today was celebratory in every way and my camera couldn't feel more alert having no chance to close its shutter even for a second. The illusion of time increases when it comes to our offsprings' birthdays - we've seen them being born, taking first steps, now we celebrate their candle blowing efforts and tell our story through family photographs. As your eyes flow from one smiling face to another it's easy to spot what the day (well until in the evening) was made of - hiding spots are shrinking by the day, strengthening muscles in pulling birthday presents away from the one who is actually their rightful owner and taking part in candle blowing contest turned into highlights of the party with the occasional bit of quiet resting in our arms. Happy birthday to my (already) four year old nephew who has been Nadia's best friend since they started sharing hazy memories of sitting on the potty for the first time or deep belly laugh they never short of.

And let me show you my brother-in-law's cozy sized 'painting room' - you're probably beginning to doubt I’ll ever be drawn to something with greater admiration than to the rows of tins of paint and bare plastic parts ending up as tanks and military car models of strict colour. Armed with unknown to human race patience and an eye to detail he's our number one when it comes to interior design - we were gifted with more camouflaged pieces to liven up our tiny space than I can think of. And I love every one of them (dusting aside).

The weather was expected to be as fabulous as yesterday. And it definitely was. We're gradually giving winter wardrobe a rest replacing it with colour and new textures while on a lookout for first signs of spring on our daily escapades. I don't have to tell you how hard it is to spot a new weed or recognize more cheerful chirrup as green grass and lush plants are marking backyards all year round. Everywhere we turn everything merges seamlessly so we dig up deep or look up high for nature's less repeating patterns.

Can you spot my new blinking accessory? It multiplies up the outer part of my left ear (pictures to come) and gives me a bit of a head ache with how careful I have to be while dressing, undressing, showering, etc. much to great humour of my little girl. Have a wonderful day, dears!

Daily whirlwinds have been eating away every spare minute I possess, no wonder I incidentally realized we've already reached beginning of February. Because of uncontrolled ritual of being late with my New Year's resolutions throughout (most of) my adult life, unlike previous years I have decided not to make plans just for the sake of having something to be attached to for a year. I could easily get a fair amount of creative flow of resolutions at the end of festive season but among things that pass by at the speed of light I may pick just three and repaint into my signposts for 11 months ahead - those I'm looking forward to the most! (according to current state of mind and mood ;) So...

1. Reaching a whole new level of prioritizing I'm looking forward to enjoy the simplest of things: the present! In all forms and weathers: cozying up with a good book, running with energetic toddler until next game request, stroking her warm forehead for extra long before bedtime and not trading it for anything! (and undeniably having more sushi).

2. When did I realize that seasons stay only for a short while? Not making the most of them is a true crime, so I'm looking forward to welcome each day of a new time of a year enjoying it as it explodes with colours and sounds! (and try not to get home bound due to weather conditions).

3. Time is precious, shall I cancel my magazine subscription? I am definitely looking forward to get active: train, swim, push up - you get the sweaty picture.

Let's make our New Year's resolutions 'Things we're looking forward to' even if it means going to the gym twice a week.

This past Christmas I found myself feeling displaced in time - inspired to write a couple of letters to my family abroad I looked around the flat in search of a real paper stationery I used to write hundreds of letters in my flat-chested teenage years but found nothing of that sort. I knew I have kept some attractive envelope leftovers from birthday cards but rummaging through my office drawer (sounds fancier than a random drawer which in fact refers to a box with half-eaten crayons and never reviewed grocery receipts) I realized immediately I had to write on plain A4 sheets with the only vibrant element being my meandering handwriting. I love to type but if I had my pen taken away I'd easily write with my own blood - just how desperate my fingers are to fly over an empty piece of paper. Suddenly a lightbulb moment striked in my head as I was resting my eyes on inaccessible patterns and custom images while browsing through stationery websites - DIY skills to the rescue! I leaned back and came up with my own composition.

First, I opened a new Word document and chose paper size (I went for A4 as I like to write a lot but you can also consider smaller, notepad size). Next step was to familiarize with the artwork I wanted to appear on empty sheets so going through zillions of fonts I keep downloading on a regular basis was less approved by my family but I eventually settled on few animal motifs. Font has to work as a shape and you can download them for free from various of websites. The ones I played with were called Equestrian by Darrian (horses) and Animals. By typing letters of the alphabet different images appear in front of your eyes and you just pick up the one that is most appropriate or strangely appealing for the project. When enlarging and moving the font/image across the page, make sure you've visualized the finished piece so that you don't overdo it and have blank space you want to write on afterwards. If you have a home printer and nice thick printing paper (100g and over), your stationery is within reach. Otherwise have a relaxed feel of someone printing it for you, you've just done the hard work after all. For a matching effect the same design can be printed onto the envelope.

The key to decorating stationery at home is to go for the classic colours (black or grey) and introduce simple forms (animals, shapes, silhouettes). Together they will make an impression of being created by a professional printing store or website and will magically bring the words alive.
