SEEING IT, LOVING IT, ENCOURAGING IT

SEEING IT, LOVING IT, ENCOURAGING IT

It's pretty much to ask of a little girl to have her hair a certain way so we don't. Interestingly enough all the layers that grew the way only nature can explain are here to stay, slightly trimmed every quarter and styled according to latest Disney trends. It's more of an adventure now and as a result she turns down all hair accessories, artful braids I was so good at and with carefree attitude embraces messy-chic hairstyle even without teasing or blow drying in the opposite of hair growth direction (although we do it for fun). I do it regularly, skip unnecessary styling and don't always pull it off instantly so it really isn't about practice. Seeing strands of hair peeking out cautiously from behind ears tickling exposed skin on Nadia's neck I realize this has to be taken personally because apart from prying how Rapunzel is styling her roots this is how I've been wearing mine - low ponytail adorned with a simple elastic and a streak of hair dangling optimistically on a surface of my cheek. I'll even go a step further and say that hair should be a little rebellious, preferably styled with a little bit of morning attitude. x

LIEBSTER AWARD AND THE SCENES FROM A MEMORABLE AFTERNOON
LIEBSTER AWARD AND THE SCENES FROM A MEMORABLE AFTERNOON
LIEBSTER AWARD AND THE SCENES FROM A MEMORABLE AFTERNOON

With nowhere to be anytime soon I sat down with a mug of hot sweetened drink and with a laid back attitude answered a couple of questions upon receiving my first blog award from a fellow blogger - Gosza over at Świat według Goszy. I'm smitten with any sign of kindness to this nook of internet so accepting my Liebster Award means I'll happily pass it on to many deserving blogs out there by answering eleven questions myself, nominating eleven bloggers and surprising them with my set of intriguing queries. Thank you Gosza. So...

What do you like doing in your spare time? Swallowing a story, study, an article in whole. Sitting aside and watching my daughter playing make-believe, noticing she's being watched and blushing at her own innocence. Nail painting and not being completely guilty about it.
Recently watched movie you'd recommend. 'Into the wild' for many different reasons. You can create that heart pounding moment through many things, I'm sure the main character has found his beating ecstatically throughout the whole journey.
What is your dream place to visit? Unrealistically it would be a month stay in New York however a weekend would also appeal to my sensory system.
If you could travel in time which era would you choose and why? This is tough question because I'm pretty happy with the times I've been placed. However if you're able to transport me to 1920's, sprinkle with freelance projects and writing opportunities, I won't stay here another minute.
How strong is your strong will? Above average. Or even greater (if I'm not too tired or under slept the night before).
What's your favourite cream brand? I like to surprise my complexion time and time again so always use a few brands at any given time. Having said that I'd definitely highlight Clarins for doing its job with the smoothest texture and best absorbency. At the moment I'm testing IMAGE cosmoceuticals purchased at dermatologist and have to say it's becoming my essential anti-aging buddy.
Your classic meal is... Does a peppermint tea count?
Have you found a way to fight stress or anger? Cocooning back to my world by doing simple things away from everything and everyone like ironing, dusting, polishing. Simple methodical rituals that keep me sane.
Define your style in a few words. Not fully complete, that's for sure. Gravitating between boho, masculine, effortless street style.
Mountains or the seaside? It used to be high lands, now I'm closer to the sea (literally) but would never pass up a hut beneath the snowy mountain with a fire blazing in the grate, candles flickering away and black noses of two labs gracing frozen windows. It takes very little to create a space that draws me in and when it happens I feel the happiest (plonked down with a furball on my lap chatting away with friends, should you need to be assisted to the photos of this post).
Quote or sentence you are guided by. Too many to choose from but I'll look up at my cork mood board that reads 'Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.' I love it. Or 'Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.' I could multiply them as bacteria on a cooked meat.

Below are my questions to writers of the following blogs: Lindsay at Love, Lindsay, Hena at Hena Tayeb Photography, Marija at Style Sense Moments, Talia at Outside Fashion Catwalk, Mister Dede at Dede-Moda, Corinne at Skinnedcartree, Meg at Kind of Lovely, Sanja at Sanja's Burgundy Blog, Natalie at An Odd Girl, Ambi at Ambi Fashion and Christel at Christel Paola.

Please note that I'd love anyone who wants to answer them in the comments. I'll happily stay on that sofa for a little longer. x

WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE WITH RATHER AMBITIOUS LIPSTICK
WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE WITH RATHER AMBITIOUS LIPSTICK

Rummaging through blogosphere, discovering new seams and beauty routines I stumble upon bags of tricks I personally wouldn't avoid trying. Going down more of an unconventional routes also ticks a lot of boxes in my style book so I had to give a henna in the form of a green tube of lipstick a big try. Obviously selecting the right hue is what worries most of us so the reason being why eBay's Magic Moroccan Hare Colour Changing Lipstick transforms lifeless lips into perfectly matted pinky and full of playfulness feature is that this stuff is said to contain a dye called Red 27 that reacts to the pH balance and temperature of your lips and causes the colour change. It looks different on everyone and stays on for hours (have patience for the colour to grow deeper and darker). Wasn't quite sure of the vibe I got and if I liked it so I kept adding layers making it look more intense. I ended up just a little bit pinker than on the bottom picture and loved it. I know I should be more adventurous with the hues of my lipstick and starting with playful, relaxed, unconventional shade should be a good introduction to the kissable department. The other things can wait. x

IF YOU FANCY CREATING YOUR STORY
IF YOU FANCY CREATING YOUR STORY
IF YOU FANCY CREATING YOUR STORY

I told you before I don't lay a finger on what Nadia is wearing these days. It was a hard decision but the good news is she can tell a fantastic story with the things that get pulled out of the closet. It doesn't colour match and is worn in a least subtle way that almost feels like a work of art but my eyes carve visual interest so it works for both of us equally well. However to tell this story, upcoming Valentine's day was our starting point of inspiration making the most of Nadia's existing shade and motif preferences. Nothing is fighting for attention but definitely catches the eye at the right time and in the right light. You see layers which I have contributed to creating so my advice is still holding strong. As long as it blends with everything else and is totally invisible she agrees to this kind of treatment. Otherwise literally starts again adding sheen and colour, texture and doesn't even stop there. Because that's pretty fundamental for getting an instant sense of achievement. Thanks for visiting the boutique. x

IN PICTURES
^^ They looked so cool on the shelf and windowsill that I realized I stop decorating too soon. So a simple layout to tantalize the eye for an hour or two before being taken down for good. From experience I know they will hang out with us for much longer thanks to curious hands (see below). ^^

^^ Meeting royalty is mostly about enjoying her company and not treating her as museum object. And it will make watching her on a silver screen way more fun! ^^
IN PICTURES
^^ She lives in them and is not bothered with balancing the number of pieces worn. It's not a serious investment if you think about a few tricks including re-using and refreshing. Who knew we had such artists in us! ^^

^^ They got at least two tones up in blue since we last spoke. I had no idea I could be in love with so many shades of Atlantic. ^^

^^ Think big but start small. Or mix more than you think is possible. It all comes down to having vivid imagination and unrestricted colour palette. ^^

^^ No matter how late, how tired, how busy the day - artistic soul shows through immediately. And it immediately disappears, lol. ^^
IN PICTURES
^^ We have a lot of love for fruit around here - it's a sense of discovery and surprise throughout the process and if it looks a picture then we don't need any more mood alterations. ^^

^^ Slightly obsessed would be understatement if you asked me about Nadia and her games which co-exist so beautifully together with Nadia's excitement over simple stories told before bedtime. We've got it all under control, you have to trust me. ^^

PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND
PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND

It's not that I don't like rain but it no longer adds this element of unexpected to everyday chores, it's all about luck these days. I never realized an umbrella will happen to be among my indispensable essentials but you never stop learning, being inspired and annoyed all in one. At first I thought I'd escape the neighbourhood but before I knew it it kept raining throughout the county. It is really about luck. And for once I'd love to be able to remove my make up using cleansing wipes and a light liquid formula instead of having it smudged all over my face. It takes a bit of skill getting it wiped to achieve socially acceptable aesthetics.

You need advice on old, used and unusual? Hey, welcome! Don't even take your shoes off! I have been thinking about starting a spring series about that many vintage, antique and curiosity shops around my area to help make those decorating decisions much easier and get inspired myself. I spend the majority of strolling down the streets on searching for unexpected nooks in between stores, bars and flower stalls. There's a lot going on on the streets of my town that intrigues, comes out of nowhere offering what once worked and still can. Just to warn you: this experience may be life changing.

All this practice and I may loose the position of Nadia's stylist. Am I sad? A little. Am I thrilled? More than a lot! Just recently I moved her dress rack low enough so she could get her hands on it and keep encouraging her to choose whatever she likes (therefore not too many Pre-School Boutique posts). She doesn't plan, doesn't potter, wants everything chosen in an instant to look fabulous there and then. When my powers are restricted creating something herself changes the whole perspective. It may be a little odd, a tad against the weather (cardigans always in rotation), a whole different way of looking at fashion but the trick is to feel good in any combination of fabric and I'm totally enjoying the vigorous growth of little fashionista. What's changed? She skips layers and bland colours altogether, most definitely turns to wearing the same thing over and over again. As she's become very hesitant to new arrivals I have decided to always seek her advice in online shopping and stop buying things on my lonesome shopping trips. The importance of finishing touches on the other hand will get figured out somehow.

Have an awesome weekend!

PRETTY INCREDIBLE, CALM SEA FOR ALL THE ATTENTION YOU'RE GETTING
PRETTY INCREDIBLE, CALM SEA FOR ALL THE ATTENTION YOU'RE GETTING

Choosing a space we'll give our undenying attention is an easy process around here. A whiz to a place that falls in our category of heaven buzzing with tourists and noise of all kinds in the summer but not putting us off with the quietness of streets and shops closing at silly hour for the reminder of the year it is. It never shouts 'Hey, look at me!' but quietly does what it suppose to do to our eyes zooming across the water. I say this many times and will show you places that tell the story of our family so well becoming something very much our own no matter how often or rarely they are visited. We could have stayed forever pottering around our friends' house cuddling warm fur of their cats and dogs. We lost time in my all time favourite curiosity shop nabbing a few trinkets in Easter hues, snacked on discounted doughnuts that their texture has already evolved into something unrecognizable. It got really cold into the evening, our fingers almost stopped pressing the shutter button but we just couldn't leave. The colours, the abandonment of a space, intriguing calmness of the sea will always manipulate my mind in the best possible way. And yes, you guessed it, it would be a big deal to move to the sleepy town again but it already resonates with our hearts so we will let the dialogue continue.

PRETTY INCREDIBLE, CALM SEA FOR ALL THE ATTENTION YOU'RE GETTING
The exciting news that explain the portion of the classic shots a nature lover needs in order to remain sane indicates another milestone in our personal journey. We celebrated 11 years together the way it fits our vibe and choosing open space seemed like an excellent idea but the reality of it on a freezing cold afternoon sucked. But that is the fun part, right? So off we went to pick up Nadia from kindergarten and shower her with variety of kisses. It's the most fabulous part in my daily schedule and will never get enough of it. x
