NOT GOING BACK TO REALITY ANYTIME SOON
NOT GOING BACK TO REALITY ANYTIME SOON
NOT GOING BACK TO REALITY ANYTIME SOON

Merry Christmas everyone!! We're enjoying days measured by the lengths of rainpour and clear sky allowing us to head for a stroll when we're brave enough to do so. The strangest thing is we're not in a hurry to jump ahead into the squalls of rain if table is obliged to entertain our taste buds, one story comes after another, rediscovering presents unwrapped hours ago keeps us fondly chained to our walls. They were well mixed this year with just the right amount of surprise, unpacked with increasing ease of little fingers. Piles of wrapping paper revealed colouring and pop up books whose every page has been repeatedly reread and coloured since they appeared under the Christmas tree that is no longer pointed at because of its sorry naked branches (it was taken down today because you'd think it could last for days until you realize it won't survive the next hour). There's always room in a girl's closet for her first nail polish and strawberry lip gloss, the kind of essentials Santa would bring with confidence. We try to remove the unwanted but the general mess around the place has been unreal.

^^ Nadia was particularly drawn to a baking set that consisted of an apron, oven glove, tea towel and a heart shaped cookie cutter. This apron is kind of a piece that will work with everything in her size.^^

This year we were so excited with the whole new idea about Christmas Eve. Instead of preparing a big meal and opening presents straight after we decided to play it as relaxed as weather allowed and went out for an evening walk downtown to see the decorations, ride on a carrousel and inspect the market and its handmade toys and not-at-all-necessary items. It was crowded, cold and simply awesome. Rediscovering my town time and time again continues to be amazing.

SOMETHING MAGICAL HAPPENED
^^ Yes, that fringe sporting muffin is myself truly at the age of six. ^^

From early on getting to know that little pea growing too well inside me, picturing those chubby cheeks reflecting no one else's traits but ours mattered more than much. Funnily enough there is a ton of fab features for her genes to choose from yet they were unable to have a grasp at what's connected to my side of this anatomical business. From minute one to a couple of months ago (with image above being a certain proof) I felt me and Nadia were mistakenly linked by the joke-loving genetics and no two features we shared accordingly. The fabulous thing about her looks is she's taken what could be the best to inherit from her father - full bottom lip, perfectly shaped button of a nose, thick and manageable curly hair, deepest shade of blue in her pupils. Not one freckle spotted, no auburn in her locks discussed, growth spurt way too quick as for my toddler days.

Anyways we were gathered here not to debate the differences (of which there are many) but we're here to spot the similarities anyone could do taking one step away from the screen. I was throwing some summer photos into the mounting mix of stored images when our resemblance hit me just right only lighter around the neck. The way she squints her eyes while smiling, turns her head a little to the right exposing the left side were my answers in searching for genes working hard under my languid eyes. It's rather lovely to get a feeling of squishy contentment at familiar features that are not the easiest to get hold of and that you connect to emotionally and watch them in intriguing gasps as they evolve. Now the list of similarities can get as ostentatious as celebrity's pad and I don't mean it in a bad way (at least this time) - from the slim frame and tiny bone structure to the shape of our eyes and ears she is mine turning my traits from ordinary to extraordinary. Every day there is more to link, recognize, admire. x

12/30 - SENSE OF WONDER AT THE CRACK OF DAWN
12/30 - SENSE OF WONDER AT THE CRACK OF DAWN

Close your eyes. Think of a time when you were very, very happy. Now tell us about it.

I'd love to tell you about the happiest time in my life. I'm sure I had such. I'm sure I'd love to go back to savour it. But I'm not really going to. Instead I'll tell you about the happiest times in my life waking up to bright eyes at the crack of dawn. Sandwiched between the two of us in a restricted space on the cotton sheet lets me bask in her early glow. I waited a long time for that conscious little-sleepy little-dreamy stare on her sitting up on the bed to find herself back in our dozed off presence feeling comforted and falling back asleep with her hands on our upper limbs. I just can't get over the idea of starting the day any other way. Ending it other way. It's pretty great to know that on opening my eyes I'm presented with this face, this smile. Uninterruptedly. x

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN 10 YEARS?
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN 10 YEARS?

I hardly plan the next meal, activity of the day so yeah, 10 years from now gets my heart racing. I'm not sure though if this confession is more of a business plan, wishful thinking or a reality check when you fast forward your life and realize that however it has turned out, it's been pretty darn awesome nonetheless. It will have as long as we're together, healthy and not stressed out to the bones.

I'd wish to be a successful writer with a house overlooking the bay and my little yacht swaying on the dock, travel lands and seas, be able to visit my family every time the need sparks in my heart but most of all I want to live a real, interesting life, not perfect. With its ups and downs, past some big issues and approaching new ones, choose to live now and for those I love. My life is now a life of three people, their needs and wishes. Where do they want to be in a decade? I couldn't possibly answer this question rather than saying that I'm building my life every day if I'm aware of every second of it or not and if from all I would have achieved I could have said I loved and was loved, found happiness in the simplest of things I won't need to catch up on anything.

And there still must be lots of silly things to do, I'll make sure there are! Have a lovely weekend, friends! x

We should be done with any kind of trip for now as my photo storage devices are bursting with things we did and I mentioned them here a long time ago and never got back to. Between the circus experience, my first night out in light years, cheering Nadia with her pirouetting skills we traveled near and far, visited our new kindergarten a few times so you know what I could go on about now. A definite treat if you had an hour to spare. I'm back after a short break but I wasn't so certain. I don't recall much from the past weeks because of this rush of emotions, headache inducing thoughts and I don't find it sensational at all. This very minute or so things have the ability to surprise me, challenge me at their own pace rocking back and forth between the bliss of a final decision and that genie of an emerging thought glowing like an elevator light signalizing its urgency.

Children were mentioned time and time again when I was still wearing Disney characters on the front of my shirt. House full of loved ones was always on my radar. There's nothing better than the atmosphere of rush with everyone talking over each other putting their hands out to reach the food, laughing and creating silly arguments. All that noise of giggling, refusing fourth helping of dumplings or whatever's been held for the fast eaters and supervised with watchful eye would one day be recreated at my less than sparkling kitchen.

Side note: It is still less than sparkling today as I'm circling around the idea of bringing another child to the world.

Deciding on being a mum again has taken over not only corners of my soul by step by step it's been advancing into the thoughts and words I say. I feel like my recent being has been built upon my body's yearning. It won't take no for an answer and I can't let its powerful suggestion just hang there. Because I could find out easily enough why loving one has made my life complete and how it would be made up for the lives of two magnificently, letting the keyboard do the talking why adding another human being to the mix would bless us with that chaos worth living for. Instead it has taken me from feeling sure and ready to feeling lost, questioning my parental skills. I'm not thinking with my heart, I've let my head take over with multiplying reasons for and against it, prompting my next moves. I've focused on the heavy loads of every day worries pushing aside the significance of our actions being the result of loving and feeling loved in the first place. What it felt like the first time? Why is it harder now? Why do we complicate things?

Of course there are shadows even behind the flower beds making all the visible magic doubling the doubts for sure but no reason's necessary for offering my love and attention to another child. No guarantee of what's to come will be given either. People feel it when they're ready, the space they've created seeks the sound of pitter patter naturally, without much reasoning or outlining deadlines. While tucking pre-loved rompers and onesies away, admitting I'm not ready for this journey again was comforting because of that little face I wake up to every morning recognizing its smile or frown. Starved for a hug? There she is running frantically towards me and I'm ready for next stages of her growing up like never before. Just her. For now.

Side note: I still love house full of loved ones. Never doubt me on this one!

And come back for more best days of our lives. We have been busy!
More than anything, have a great Wednesday lovelies! x
