animal world
zoo, eventful day
animal world, elephant in the zoo
family fun, poland

Another day, another episode of what's reported to be the best time ever. We said our goodbyes to my dad and rushed into the arms of a big town cause you know, girls need not to be overwhelmed all at once. It was unbelievably hot as we walked through the gate of a neighbouring zoo to see most of the animals hiding in the shade and soon we had to start thinking like them enjoying mini breaks on benches scattered around on much too big area. Pure indulgence. Nadia was super excited to start with but didn't stay too long in one place, expected rather a lot from slow in their motion giraffes and other interesting creatures so it was noticeable enough we would move on with our life pretty soon finding things worth doing elsewhere. The highlight of the adventure was my dear friend we brought along to share sugar doughnuts and all the fun with to finally wrap the day up in her kitchen over delicious feta salad with garlic baguette, a feast that involves taking advantage of the first days of summer.

NO STICK OR STONE, A FEATHER LEFT BEHIND
NO STICK OR STONE

I'm a countryside girl deep inside my relaxed being. The coolness of a forest will never be enough for me in this world so I guess I must have been a deer or a hare in a previous life due to ecstatically finding countless occasions to stop and stare, sniff and gaze, squat and search with both hands in the undergrowth. But do note it only happens outside the crowded pedestrian areas just so I can happily remain within the company of mentally healthy population. Summer is everywhere right now but it was just beginning to warm up on the days of our trip not so long ago. It didn't matter a great deal, I'm talking my childhood landscapes, my dad showing me work of his hands on the fertile soil so it was a mix of pieces I've loved and longed for seeing again. The weather wouldn't be able to spoil it one bit.

We spent three days at the house my dad has built almost himself with new and hand-me-down materials that seemed like a permanent building site instead of being a place we want to linger. Then suddenly after a couple of years of scarcity the trees started to grow manically, my dad introduced new features in abundance into the enclosure. Most of the products used have a back story behind them creating zones that embrace every mood. I'll have you all hooked up on the place soon, we're spending a week in the woods this July so be warned. And as a new owner of this place I'm starting to mentally dive into different projects to make it more family-friendly and bit personal but above all a one that is completely unspoilt by the civilization. The idea behind this trip was mostly business but hear me shout out loud every time a fly buzzes in my ear - this is where I could end up living day in, day out while Nadia is only just becoming smitten with the space and freedom it creates. She made it her personal mission to find the weirdest stick and the shapeless stone, I just watched her excitement grow offering generous amounts of earthy finds. Below are some of my favourite moments of doing not much than just enjoying each breath. Have a great day friends!

A LITTLE TRAVELER'S LOVE AFFAIR
TODAY MY WAY TRAVELING
WE'RE BACK
How was it possible for my dad to know what a nearly five year old girl would give up her last Kinder Surprise egg for? There are a thousand and five ways to please a little heart and this seashell bracelet is among them.
THIS GIRL IS BACK

So we're back. To start soaking up the sun, get ready for school this September, pack some more for another holiday trip. You guessed it, we're not for an easy month. But before we enter this crazy season me and Nadia talk about our recent short getaway all the time. Like we have nothing really interesting to say than reminiscence on views we missed the minute they left our eyes. We're not complaining, in the blink of an eyelid the contryside-style summer I know, love and will not hesitate to engage in fully this year will wrap us up in the same delicious way. I'm already creating a sense of excitement just by sitting and typing it. This time we traveled quite long hours each day to get to desired destinations on time and according to plans but those journeys melted away in a sense of constant relaxation, well-being unknown elsewhere. Trains appeal to me like no other thing. The sound of wheels pattering with regular pace, landscapes of shapes, sizes and forms running away from lethargic eyelids spark curiosity as nothing alike. With this little booth, a secluded spot of two vis a vis seats and almighty access to your own window this is the key to a wonderful experience. And I really want to see a lot from my seat - I want to smell it too, hear each buzz signalling rushing off or stopping at a random station tantalizing the eye with hedges of wild plants, bricked walls you don't know what's behind, bunch of mature trees, an open space obstructed by the shape of window I rely on. Ever dreamed of getting off at one of empty platforms in a place no one knew you existed? You bet, I get this all the time! Just for a mug of coffee or a quick pie conversing freely with a stranger or sitting quietly denying any form of etiquette. I'm blessed it takes three hours to get to where my dad lives but I'd take the long route there anyway, anything to keep me on the seat of a train for as long as there is not much to fall in love with outside. Yes, you look other side too - greet new passengers with a silent nod, peek behind seats strategically placed to secure your intimacy and only give an idea what can be happening in the neighbouring booth.

But yeah, you assumed I'd be talking about the actual trip or trips we took. We talked, we laughed, jumped up to the window at anything that sparked an interest even if it was an abandoned platform full of fidgety pigeons. The day was cloudy, rain dictated our dress code, the heat coming from under the seat radiators kept us snugly contented. Our bodies needed rest so we slept on the move too and that little body cuddled to my arms letting mama steal some sleep along the way with a cheek secured by a soft skin has been my most favourite. That week undoubtedly tired us out, falling asleep at the start of journey and waking up fully immersed in a dream was kind of our reality. Once we arrived at my dad's place, a quick grocery shopping trip was in order to get us through the evening and beyond as his flat is only livable when there's a woman involved. Also we haven't slept that well in hours! The minute our heads hit the pillow, there was no news to get us up. Tiredness is bliss.

FUN THAT SHOULD NEVER BE MISSED
FUN AT FARMER PALMER'S

This girl. There's sweetness filling her up making me burst with pride and joy and all that a mama can think of when looking at her girl, holding her in arms, perfecting each grip. But the minute you show her what boys do, the female part we care deeply about is fading. Running around without her shirt on? Check. Playing Lego and Harry Potter on Xbox? Embarrassing check. Riding serious vehicles with a confidence meant for showing? You bet, check. It was a long bank holiday weekend around these parts, grass lusciously green and not much planning involved but we were up for whatever idea gathered up the people we know and like to get tired with... And outdoors obviously. All parties had more fun than on the average playground and I guess the sheep's contribution shouldn't be overlooked. Us, resident animals, we were all in this together ensuring no activity went unchecked, unnoticed, turned down intimidatingly. We've been fantasizing of coming back to this place ever since. x

I CLARIFY THINGS AS I SIT ON WHAT FEELS LIKE IT'S BEEN MADE RIGHT FOR ME

I CLARIFY THINGS AS I SIT

Summer is a moment good enough to reflect on the past six months that are more New Year's resolution related than any other time - half way through the year, half way through bullet points of real life stuff with just enough lacy trimming at the ends to take off big time. How are you guys doing realistically? Or simply how are you doing?

I'm flipping through the diary, so many crossed out entries, highlighted sentences, references taking me to another page - chaos of the best kind. Unstoppable once, it appears I'm only surviving on the hope in the six months there are left ahead, there's no skill in procrastinating, no pleasure in saying yes to the things that take me away from what I really want to do. I've gotten away with it until now however sleeping well at night was never my strongest point. I'm so not all the things I wish I was - productive, consistent, self-willed, disciplined... you sure don't wanna hear some more, it's not healthy at any stage of working on a resolution, idea, project piled sky-high with expectations. There's no actual evidence to say I'm trying, just bouncing off like nobody would recommend. Summer really is a moment of truth. Regardless of what I've said so far, we look in the mirror more occasionally therefore count each calorie more obsessively. We're so aware of who we are days leading to the abundance of glances of others, heat and long summer nights. It turns out the race with time kick starts again, such a thrill, such a smart move. Everything needs time, lots of things require energy, only a few settle for poor concentration. But here's something to make your ears happy: I know what I like to do and what I'm good at. I know how I want my life and near future to be like, I've visualized it more than anything else. If now is not the right time then when?*

* ‘If you want to do anything right, you have to put your heart and soul into it. There are always challenges, but if you don’t love something than it’s just going to feel like a form of torture with no reward. Love your work and no sacrifice will be too big or too small.’  Madonna

LIBRARY

I've been waiting a long time to fall in love with my desk, a workspace, cork board full of meaningful images, place where a lot of my writing happens and thinking merges. And I have fallen in love deeply that it changed everything. It took a moment to put it all together but I guess it's served to the eye quite well with its Scandinavian efforts. At first this nook was hoped to be an accompaniment to the overall living room decor, soon becoming a star of the show, a limelight stealing corner of finds of all sorts and other fantastic bits. But yeah, it's the little things. And post-it notes mostly.

My comfort zone consists of memorable objects I loved long and hard that are mixed up with new additions from places I stumble upon and keep coming back to (an old Polish car that has more history in its four seats than any other car as whole). Well spotted! An imaginary cover of my first novel - a girl has to have her vision. So I'm the gal behind it all that you see up there except a huge credit goes to my other half who will always hang/re-hang things, glue/stick and adjust whatever else that needs fixing or re-applying. My workspace is your work(space), Dee! x

4 VERSIONS OF ME IN ONE SUITCASE
4 VERSIONS

Effortless without trying too hard, flattering without feeling overexposed - some outfits will be born out of the monochromatic pieces I happened to choose to come along with me to Poland. My closet feels better already. A five day trip calls for easy combinations so each item that landed on my lap - if it's not great on its own, it's definitely promising a thrill in pairing. The weather shows mild showers with temperature raising by a degree or two each day so by the time we reach Friday flight back home, I should have used all my warm garments leaving me mildly impressed with remaining efforts. Nadia wasn't too interested in choosing the playful neither the comfortable, so I mixed a little gray (to match my picks) with some pink and can't wait for the cuteness to start hurt as it goes on.

Now, I seriously need to crawl into bed, we will be crazily busy from the next hour and I would much prefer to look my very best (read: wide awake). Have a great week friends! x
