OUR STREETS ARE MADE FOR WALKING
OUR STREETS ARE MADE FOR WALKING

OUR STREETS ARE MADE FOR WALKING

OUR STREETS ARE MADE FOR WALKING

When coming home from kindergarten we often find ourselves traipsing around town without cause. There's something refreshing in hours of walking just for the joy of it. It's not really hours as it gets pretty dark here just after five due to the time change (although I loved having that extra hour back) but if we manage to get home this or other way, four thumbs up. Late one random afternoon Nadia was given a flu vaccine and we walked a little afterwards looking for seasonal treasures brought home without asking. What a pleasure to stroll hand in hand with this funny creature escaping my eyes to be found peeking out the tree laughing hysterically a minute later.

Last week we had fun seeing Nadia's best friend Erin outside kindergarten. They've been so close since beginning of the rain season, we mums thought it would be a great idea to let the girls enjoy their company in discovering new things haphazardly. That morning we took a double-decker bus and sat upstairs because Nadia likes to see things from the top, especially those pigeons sat on the roofs of the bus stops. I tell you, we know what we're doing. Once we got to the Serendipity Sam's, a soft play area with slides and monkey trails Nadia got upset and wanted to leave. Once so thrilled to see her friend and play together she held me tight directing to areas of great fun. So we enjoyed it together, me and my sweaty 50% woolen sweater hitting every slide and climbing every overly wide step. No mummy chatting, no airing the fabric, thank you very much. Just little before we left they started making the most of the space while me and Hannah (Erin's mum) were more than happy to test the coziness of the sofa. It was ideal for like fifteen minutes before we left to eat. Then she dropped us off home and we dozed off on the couch until Damian came from work bringing the lightning and thunders with him. It rained and blared so ferociously I joked I should've used my credit card in full before we'll get flooded and blown away in shatters. I sent Hannah late text message letting her know how much we enjoyed today. I just thought she'd like to know. She wrote back remarkably quickly and it kinda made our day. Already perfect kind of day.

P.S. Nadia really likes listening to Madonna. Pretty great to be a part of the world craze.

From our pumpkin to yours, happy spooky Halloween my friends! xx

NO DRASTIC WARDROBE DECISIONS JUST YET
NO DRASTIC WARDROBE DECISIONS JUST YET

Things race along with and without reason these days and my duty is to keep a wide eye on their intensity especially when one's world is seen a lot from other side of the camera glass. I can make it lie but only for as long as the shutter button is half pressed before the light emerges in visible form of objects, colour saturation, faces. Those I'm never enough of noticing. No longer a baby I'm photographing, the series will not be about preschooler anymore and the realization is already making me cringe. Yeah, it might be fun if she allows me to rekindle our love affair with the Canon body when she's 16 (hardly believe it but let's keep dreaming) pulling together a box of clothes to play a little dress up. Maybe she'd even bring her girlfriends to satisfy crazy mum's wish to keep this blog alive. Hey, why not? Now that I'm aware of that, of how fast it's happening I'm becoming weirdly passionate about it. I'm sure we'll have fun dressing up no matter our age or style defined permanently or only for weekends. I'll let it come, battery ready and charged. Until then I'm insanely fond of little adventure we're having. Sequins or not, we're still a game.

Related on balmy days: We still haven't put the heating on, not once. What a bravery! But no, our windows point straight into sun's face on most sunny days and we live on the top floor of a fairly new building so yeah, it's pretty warm until our first snot. Stay tuned for that magic moment our radiators will have their say. Thanks for visiting the boutique. x

WE'RE SO INTO THE WAY THIS LIFE TURNS
WE'RE SO INTO THE WAY THIS LIFE TURNS
WE'RE SO INTO THE WAY THIS LIFE TURNS
Life overwhelms again. Suddenly afternoon dates dusted their coats off and stepped ahead first time in seasons. Thanks to Nadia, her kind kindergarten and the weather almost making it work for us that day. It was pretty much just a quick meet-up at the nursery's door with my husband taking half day off at work and drive away to not-all-things-serious (picture me flirting with those citrus minions). With two afternoons a week to avoid just about everything grim we're ready for it, yeah let's do this thing more often! As you may predict the afternoon turned into window shopping, triple chocolate cookie tasting and not at all Harry Meets Sally kind of date. Although we tried we turned into those unquestionably mindless parents-run-free and did what time and place allowed without being forced to visit toddler-friendly departments although the idea never disappeared from our minds as we pointed at things she would like or she would unarguably abandon an evening later. I loved it to the last rain drop catching us just after picking up Nadia and snapping a few photos on our driveway. So yes, the afternoon date groove continues. xx

PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND
PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND
PERFECT SLIDING INTO THE WEEKEND

Weather we've been having gets more and more unpredictable so our outings are thoughtfully planned to get us from place A to a place B in a quickest and uninterrupted of possible ways (sometimes through place C being our favourite store, sun or rain, whatever). Nadia's been alternating between her bike and scooter wheels which is surprising and thrilling at the same time that she hasn't forgotten her old sturdy friend having all the Disney princesses waiting for her in temporary reverie.

Oh my hair, it needs... something. A bit of colour, a lot of shine, some true loving. The original plan was to warm it up with milk chocolate (so long silver seedlings), trim the ends, treat with a nice rinse-off intensive mask and hope the result is kind. You'll be the first to know it really happened.
Remember the plant that was shockingly bullied by my friend's mum? The one that was trying to grow pretty and tall and all that with all its stem's strength? Yep, it's making its way up in record speed. I'm a good mum, pats on back welcome.

Sometimes this little heart gets sad, like making this face you want to kiss all over to make things look better and rock her in slow motion until it really does get better. I spot this moment when she gets all quiet and cuddly and says in a soft voice that her eyelashes are sad. My job is to make her skyscraper lashes highly satisfied. It's kind of my favourite job, you know.

Have a wonderful weekend, lovelies! x

ADVENTURES IN OUR BATHROOM WITH MATEY
ADVENTURES IN OUR BATHROOM WITH MATEY

It had been raining since Monday clearing up just after 1pm each day surprising us with a spectacular show of lightning and angry thunders last night. We've stayed indoors mostly because when it's this wet we end up noticing our tiny flat more however we were eager to see the clouds reflected in black holes of puddles on the streets so we went out yesterday. We met Erin and her mum at soft play area but that's story for, like another day of dreariness and storm. So when the sky tears up on us we appreciate a bath time come earlier than usual - for extra bonding time, more bubbles and uncontrolled bursts of laughter. To double our splashy fun bubble bath brand Matey has sent us this beautiful limited edition waterproof bathtime book written by mum of two: Emma Greaves about the adventures of the Matey characters - Max, Molly and Peg Leg which are Nadia's favourite bubble bath characters of all time. They never fail to serve solely as Nadia's puppets in girlie plays but it's easy to navigate the story while having it written in a little poem. The night the book arrived was highlight of our day - it was a vehicle helping rubber hippo cross the foamy waters, it was read from cover to cover with some weird sound effects coming from already noisy bathroom. Seeing the magic and excitement in Nadia's eyes was so cute to watch I had to get a few snaps. You know I could spend all my waking hours on moments like these.

12/30 - SENSE OF WONDER AT THE CRACK OF DAWN
12/30 - SENSE OF WONDER AT THE CRACK OF DAWN

Close your eyes. Think of a time when you were very, very happy. Now tell us about it.

I'd love to tell you about the happiest time in my life. I'm sure I had such. I'm sure I'd love to go back to savour it. But I'm not really going to. Instead I'll tell you about the happiest times in my life waking up to bright eyes at the crack of dawn. Sandwiched between the two of us in a restricted space on the cotton sheet lets me bask in her early glow. I waited a long time for that conscious little-sleepy little-dreamy stare on her sitting up on the bed to find herself back in our dozed off presence feeling comforted and falling back asleep with her hands on our upper limbs. I just can't get over the idea of starting the day any other way. Ending it other way. It's pretty great to know that on opening my eyes I'm presented with this face, this smile. Uninterruptedly. x

I think it is honest to say the smaller flat we accommodate the more people are enthusiastically asked to visit. The less sitting areas in sight, the more standing and passing by occurs. But we just love our place to be shared with friends and family whenever it is socially possible. The images I present unto you were taken back in May on our short two day toddler-free journey to Poland in anticipation of applying for Nadia's passport which didn't happen eventually but all the goodness was swallowed and remembered respectfully (cucumber soup followed by cheese pancakes). The reason being on retrospecting on the taste of home made meals and looking down at this side of Edinburgh from pressurized cabin is having my family coming over for Christmas! It will be just my mum with her partner but I already have great feelings about this. A whole week of bare maximum: chatting, eating, going out, staying in and at this time of year that's all you really need. Nadia is already appreciating the upcoming late nights so the countdown has already begun and I am happy to report that Christmas with all the loved ones we'll try accommodate around our tiny dinner table is coming along nicely. And I hope you won't mind if I share a whole ton of the chaos there will be. And I await.

MY VERSION OF FALL

MY VERSION OF FALL
MY VERSION OF FALL
MY VERSION OF FALL
^^ Sweater: Mango, Cardigan: George, Leggins: Atmosphere, Boots: New Look, Shopper: H&M ^^

I predict this combination of woolen stitches will not happen again. Not in this colour burst let alone the weather so you gotta admire it while it lasts. Seen in action under jackets or dug under overcoat will make no difference for the camera especially the one I can only operate in 5%. As per images truly the moment in between acting fashionable and getting ready for winter dashed off with the ones and only above. But moving on, it never occurred to me tight-fitting in all the effective places garments were meant to be temporary in my life. My journey in tight exposures is ending but I like how my closet is turning out. I think I've figured out the thing about baggy and oversized and boyfriend's if you wish. The thing is that it accentuates just right all the goodness underneath. Not too obvious of course, there must be a guess involved. Loose-fitting is wonderful just for the fact that suddenly resumes the good stuff. And with good stuff I'm all darn predictably useful: rationing Christmas kept me busy this past week. Before I knew it I had four people ticked off of my crumpled list (and the most demanding age covered!). Ordered, wrapped that I don't even mind re-ordering and re-wrapping some more. Your Christmas shopping done already? Before December? Holy llama! November days even? Get a glimpse into how my organized brain is working. I have no interest in impulse-buying or I-really-have-to-take-it-home buying but once I'm done with essentials and necessities I still have time for super unpractical and what-fors. So my timing is spectacular, doesn't it excite you?  (particularly including my husband in the question). x

11/30 - INHALING CHANGES AS LONG AS WE SENSE THEM

He comes from work straight into the living room to touch my cheeks with his lips, all happy with himself, a little sweaty, with disorganized collar but seriously, not even joking, in his most handsome self (there are those handsome sides of my husband I cherish but favour only a few... and yes, you guessed it, the sweaty one completes me). That evening I followed him curiously to the bathroom and as welcome as I felt this awful humid environment didn't do me any good but I stayed for a quick chat nonetheless. Nothing out of ordinary, this is our fairiest location for a discussion after a long day at work, me leaned over a door-frame gesticulating ridiculously and him shouting over the hot streams of water. Normalcy. That evening, before any of it commenced I looked at him the way I find myself looking at him lately. It is such a weird way to say but I said I was glad to be able to recognize him changing. I know how rude I was by saying it but I really and positively find my husband's evolving features a miracle. You know, we might wake up by each other's side in thirty years time asking terrifyingly: 'what has happened to us?' Instead I want to pause at occasions to admire his changing jawline and hairline. I imagine reminiscing those exact moments when he was so young and perfectly shaven before each of our dates I could mistaken it for my skin, flirtatiously pouting his full lips when looking my side. The ability to remember him exactly as he is now - masculine with greying skull, so serious at times, still with this funny spark in his blue eyes. I'm ready for him appearing different, I'm hungry for the facial features exhausted with youth settling down at my loving glimpse. I hope I'll always remember this boy, this man, the textures, the smell. Changes I've contributed to.

On the contrary, he still finds me that delicate, young girl he met a long time ago. Don't ever let go of that impression, Damian. xx

WHEN THE SWEETNESS TAKES OVER
WHEN THE SWEETNESS TAKES OVER

Most times when I write about recent affairs I try hard to sum them up the most eloquent way and easy to understand due to my habit of digressing or not getting to the point eventually. Or just because English is my second language and there are words out there I haven't yet grasped. I try to write detailed posts people would relate to or have the idea of continuation, be able to put all pieces together. I adore bloggers, writing minds for being able to retrospect on every datail that passed on, every emotion wandering inside finds its verbal substitute on paper or on the screen. They tell you as they've seen it sharing a lot of joy out of the simplest of things. I sense a resolution coming: to be more observant, consistent with my daily assignments, tell stories the way I'd love to hear them. So without further ado, here are some recent snippets I raced back to for you to enjoy. And as relaxed as I might feel it always gets the life out of me to believe this is what I really wanted to say. Either way...

Positively crazy about messy play. Laying up our dining table for meals has never had this atmosphere of anticipation and excitement as setting it up for all things crafty, splashy or with crazy amounts of details we find after weeks behind the sofa. I must have spoken before about our life in play dough and the food supply we end up with while at it (how I love pressing the mould for yummy yellow chips). Recently we've been missing printing paper from our printer's feeder but I didn't give it too much thought until I realized this girl needs a proper drawing pad or we'll get bankrupt on paper. Some drawings are finished, some are nowhere near but end up hung up on our fridge anyway. Or piled up on the windowsill. The older ones are safely kept in colourful folder for rotational displays. But we're definitely ready for more.

Friends that talk and those who could. That Nadia comes with her dad to pick me up from work is beyond sweet, I know. That it is past her bed time... well, not so. But it is only a short drive and while at home it doesn't take us long to get ready for bed. But she found out there is this black friendly cat sitting on concrete steps outside my workplace looking at her with those flirty eyes no one can resist. So picture me coming out and seeing her chasing it, petting, talking to it, giggling and sometimes shouting. Has this child have a parent to take it home? (Damian usually observes her antics from a shaded point so nobody is aware she's  his. Or mine.) Can this child just stop waking the street up? But the cat is there to laugh at and get impatient with when not coming while called by his name (he's name is Louie). Speaking of coming in contact with others I feared growing up with two boys Nadia would miss on that part of her childhood when she shares her deepest secrets and dreams with a girlfriend so similiar to her, braid hair together and well just be close (I can easily recreate on command time spent with my best friend - the adventures, the emotions!). Those days are here - Nadia spends afternoons chatting away with her new friend Erin over sticks of carrot and soft cheese on a sandwich, they have tea parties for those one eyed dolls in the corner of the playing room, they hold hands, read stories together. It makes my heart skip a lot she's found her tiny soulmate and makes me wonder about all of the amazing things they could be doing together once we go out to play outside kindergarten. Nadia really wanted to invite Erin to her birthday party so we did and had her all to ourselves the whole two hours. She was involved in cooking felt cheese and wooden eggs so wasn't exposed to camera lens too much but telling from what we were given to eat, she had a great time over the stove.

And to top it off every Wednesday I get a little note from Nadia's carer how her day at the kindergarten went. Sometimes it is as sweet as "Nadia has been telling us that she has a DVD with a mouse dancing ballet. She then did a demonstration and when we praised her she got all shy" and sometimes it says "She played with Lego and built a house with a wall." And I'm happy she's having fun, getting independent, making friends. I'm a happy mama.

PRE-SCHOOL BOUTIQUE: WHEN COLOUR GETS TOO ADDICTIVE
PRE-SCHOOL BOUTIQUE: WHEN COLOUR GETS TOO ADDICTIVE
PRE-SCHOOL BOUTIQUE: WHEN COLOUR GETS TOO ADDICTIVE
^^ White shirt: Young Dimention, Vest, Embroidered skirt: Vertbaudet, Silver sandals: Boden ^^

Bright and colourful rainbow on fabric was always speaking to us louder than any other effect achieved on cotton. Details, patterns, embroidery were added to the mix but we liked turning to pastels and plains just as we liked the opposite vibrant shelf. Those photos were taken earlier this year before going on a short trip with my friend so all we cared for was comfort and layering in case the weather changed significantly. We follow this rule on most occasions combining it with Nadia's choice for colour or funny character she's seen on a silver screen. Since this September any outfit that shows out the door comes together because of important factor that is giving Nadia independence in putting it on and/or taking it off without much help from an adult. So we're talking skirts, leggins, press studs, slip on shoes, Crocs (their end of life ceremony was held in our bathroom before putting them away for winter).

I am attracted to classic shades personally so white has been a key colour when creating many visually pleasing attires. On a lightly tanned skin which you just can't avoid even when slapping tons of sun cream on and with that blonde-going-lighter-and-lighter-in-the-sun locks - white, cream, beige could get a little obsessing and become most exciting summer trend. And I'm realizing now we've never had much love for all things floral, just occasional seasonal dress or little nail decorations. Maybe next summer? So on a path to epitomise individuality as well as comfort and encouraging independence - narrowing our fabric selections down to few basics in more compromising colours is the way to create some magic. Thanks for visiting the boutique.

WALK OFF AND SEE THE RESULTS - FITNESS WALKING
WALK OFF AND SEE THE RESULTS - FITNESS WALKING

Having a great/good/bearable physical condition and to look like having one is entirely different story. I've always been more on the slim dragonfly-weight side, never dieted, never trained. I crossed ages more less in size 8 until my daughter was born and the word 'condition' stuck with me for the first two years of strengthening arm and thigh muscles while going grocery shopping and conditioning the grip on the stroller. Yes, those were the days I could claim my condition to be good for my body capability and piles of photos taken while at it can vouch. I joined gym for a second and bought a swimming pass but because inconsistency was my best mate, I quit. Whenever I was on or off the toning wagon I knew I never grasped the opportunity with all the tendons concerned. Less is better then nothing but I guess if you start, you definitely want great not average results.

This body needs guidance so I'm on a mission to team up with what best this coast has to offer. In its windiest season. I am a pathetic runner but have a potential to be an excellent walker. Years of traipsing around town have laid the foundations on the way to more than just a casual stroll. So quick look at the weather forecast and my trainers were introduced to surface other than my carpeted floors. First time walking was more of a fun then a proper workout but I still managed to walk at a regular pace adjusting  my breath with my step ensuring I felt a little raced heartbeat for a better circulation. Without a pedometer it's just a different kind of fun but squeezing the right muscles I had forgotten they still could be obedient occupied my mind the good way. Another walk and another release of endorphins, corrected foot placement, a little warm-up in the afternoon sun. Then a change of scenery for fun, finding routes offering challenges - sandy beach, pebbly path, windy dune. Yes, I ached all over after the first stroll and still am at times but I feel energized and happy, pleasantly exhausted. I'd love to try to walk in different weather conditions: strong wind or rain to challenge my new-found body. I said I'm on a mission.

Fitness walking can be fun and can provide a great workout (and what a nice excuse for feet massage!). I'm lucky to be living at the seaside so my routes are challenging while the views lift my spirits for extra motivation. Gather clothing that suits the season, pick up a nice location and start with easy daily walks gradually increasing distance and speed. Good luck, dears!  x

BEING AWASOME IS HAPPENING TODAY!

BEING AWASOME IS HAPPENING TODAY!

Saturday afternoon found us a little excited, a little more presentable. A little forgiving to all that sugar on the table. A little distracted, a little rushed. Sniffling our way around the flat after a recent cold outbreak we chatted with family and friends while celebrating that extra candle on a rich chocolate cake. Can you believe it? Another October in our lives that is pretty rad even without the whole nature's beautifying sessions. She's officially four (that she's officially awesome we already know!) and we planned ourselves a little chaos in all its forms and angles. It was far from a big party. When you're sitting in the tiniest of rooms adventurously with seven adults and ten under five running feet you just call it a tea party and pretend you own a proper china. We stuffed our guests with fruit in the most delicious of colours, pointed camera at them overdosing on their great mood. Nadia wrote her own wishes and was chuffed with every meandering letter. She loved her presents following the rhythms of the season - porcelain tea sets for long evenings in the atmosphere of pools of candle light scattered around our shoe box flat (we started crossing tea guests off the list due to the cup and saucers collection effective diminishing), colouring books discovered again and decorated skillfully, Twister's small sibling game - Don't Fall Down played to kids' heart rate increase while changing the rules and skipping turns. And birthday cards she's reading mixing up the variations of tones of her voice with both spoken and unknown to human ear words. Sweet along the way.

All fun and games, exhausted and a little bit alarming when that Disney sparkly shampoo ended up in bubbles on Nadia's hair thanks to her older friend Kaviya determined to try it out and be happy with the purchase. They coloured together and it seemed to be Kaviya's recent passion as she asked us if she could hang her masterpiece in our flat as her dad is strictly against displaying art of a suspected value. Most of us rent our spaces and often tear and wear policy covers slightly damaged walls but pleasing a little artist has more to it than just overdosing on holes in plaster. I personally advise on being daring with wax crayons and display them funnily. As suggested by Nadia, the artist herself.

Overfilled with wrapping paper artfully placed under our feet we stayed up long past the advisable bed time. I'll leave you with images that encapsulates Nadia's day - balloons adding oodles of colour to our monochromatic interior more than any other accessory (shall we not part with them for the ongoing wow factor at all times?), googly eyes winking your way from the table or the floor, whichever seems to be captured more effectively.
